Fiber Destroys, Need Alts?

I'm sure there's others who had to get their gallbladder removed on here, so maybe those people can help me out? I know about the liver constantly pumping acid into the stomach, so I have to eat a little something every 2 hours or else I'm in a world of hurt.

That said, I'm wondering what methods I can get fiber into my diet? I can't properly digest vegetables, and sometimes they don't digest at all (which leads to a scary visual in the restroom) which leaves me with intense stomach aches. I also can't take fiber capsules or pills because, again, world of pain and added nausea. The doc told me to eat a lot of vegetables and lowfat things to lose weight, and my other doc told me to stay away from fibrous foods because of my weak digestive tract (and possible case of IBS).

I'm pretty much at my wits end on what the heck to eat, because my conditions pretty much hate each other. Not to mention, I shouldn't eat breads much because of something else wrong with me. That leaves poultry, meat, and fish (diary gives me the runs). Been the Atkins route, hated it and it's VERY bad for you, so that is immediately out. I was thinking of doing some sort of modified B.R.A.T. thing or eat like an old person with diabetes or something (oddly enough, I don't have the beetus).

Suggestions? Even if it's a small one, it helps out immensely because I'm at the point where the only thing I can consume without pain are Austin Crackers and Sardines, and it's starting to show on the scale (Yikes!)

Is is all vegetables or just some of them? My mom had hers out and she had to avoid things like lettuce, and she can't eat nuts at all now due to a food sensitivity.

Have you tried lactaid pills? They might help with dairy. And fruit does have fiber in it if you eat the skins, again I'm not sure this would kill your tummy or not, because a higher concentration of fruit is water. A multivitamin might be good for you as well as your intestines don't properly handle food too well.

have you tried chia seeds? you can get them in whatever section sells the bob's red mill bags, usually in the slightly higher-end grocery stores. put a few tablespoons-ful into water and they will bloom and gel. aloe vera meat also has the same kinds of soft, gellous fiber that may help.

just because you hated it doesn't make it bad for you. it's a successful plan for many, many people.

Most vegetables mess with my stomach, and fruit plugs me up in a really bad way, but don't cause the gutrot like veges do. I'll definitely look into alternative pills, thanks for that.

I hated it /because/ it was bad for me. I like having energy, muscles, and retaining a good heart. I can't speak for other people, but for me, that diet is a killswitch for my body. No thanks.

I'll definitely look into chia seeds, but I'm allergic to aloe vera (go figure). Any source of fiber that doesn't feel like a Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II exploding in my stomach works.

ok... that's fine and completely understandable. but it's not how you worded it in your original post.

out of curiosity, how long were you on atkins? it's completely normal to have a drop in energy after the first 3-5 days when your body has burned through all the available blood glucose and switches over to burning body fat, but a lot of people hit that "keto-flu" and give up.
