Bear with me, I am new to this whole sharing thing!
I'm an independent person that can accomplish anything I set my mind to and right now I am determined to improve my overall fitness and health by getting back into a lifting and cardio routine to end up with a bod that will cause whiplash! I have worked out regularly in the past, but this is the first time I am committing to some concrete goals. I would like to hook up with like minded folks who are not afraid to lay it on the line and tell it like it is......no sugar coating for me (besides, I'm cutting out the simple carbs LOL!).
So, I'm shooting for diet modification and increasing muscle mass while trimming fat. I'm about 170 or 175 (I hate scales!) and 5'6". I don't even want to fathom what my current BMI is, but I'll get around to a measurement later. I was going to buy a copy of The New Rules of Lifting For Women....any thoughts about that out there?
Please let me know if you would like to share ideas along the way. I'm sensible, a hard worker and not thin skinned. Being an RN cures that right up :-)

Great attitude! It'll really help. I used to be around the same weight as you at 5'5". I lost it through running and lifting. (I'm back because an injury set me back a few pounds, sigh.)
As far as that book goes... if you're the type to like to hold the information in your hand, by all means. But it doesn't seem to have much in it that isn't elsewhere online with a bit of research. The main difference between lifting as a woman compared to as a man is your max weight is significantly lower on all lifts, especially when it comes to the upper body, and you may naturally be more flexible right off the bat (this has its own pros and cons in terms of lifting). Most beginner linear progression programs are fine for anyone provided you've got the dedication to keep with them - just find the one that clicks. A lot begin with Starting Strength. I prefer Phrak's Greyskull variant.
Haha sorry that may be more in depth than you wanted... My priority is lifting heavy; any gains to my attractiveness are just a bonus Feel free to add me if you want to!0
