Lupus - Easier to kick medication after getting fit?

I've been diagnosed with Lupus for over three years and have always been convinced that once I improved my overall fitness and strength it might disappear altogether.
I'm currently taking Etoricoxib, Hydroxichloroquine and a low dose of prednisolone (3mg). Every time I try to cut down on predinisolone from (3mg-2mg) I get persistent flare-ups which then limit me when it comes to exercising so I end up going back to the normal dose.
My fitness is much better than it was but I was wondering if anyone's managed to get off medication entirely (particularly if you have Lupus) after getting very fit?
