Healthy Weight for Height

This is just a handy little chart I found for healthy weight ranges based off of BMI. Before anyone says anything about it, I am aware that those with higher muscle mass levels than "average" may come in a bit higher than the top number, but this is mostly for those who are setting their goals to begin with and may not know.

Ladies -- please please please keep the low end in mind. I have seen several threads lately with young women trying to set goals that put them vastly underweight. That is just as unhealthy as being overweight - and in some cases more unhealthy.

Hope this is as helpful to you all as it was to me! Keep it strong and healthy, folks.

ETA: the "recommended weights" are just the median weight (directly between the highest and lowest) - I know everyone's bone structure is different and that's why there's a range.

As a generic ball park (for women) I start with 5' and 100lbs. 5LBS for each inch. This puts 5'6" at 130. Not too different. Of course, this is a generic, ball park starting point....

Yeah, that was a common one when I was growing up. I like the range better, though.

The range is great. The "ball park" is a good quick and dirty, I don't have a chart in front of me. So yeah, both.

Oops. I might need to drop another ten when I'm done.

It's hard to set the goals when you're still really fat. I'm going to re-evaluate when I drop another thirty pounds.

    Thanks for posting this. :)
