If you are a runner, I highly recommend the Mio Link. Very accurate, no chest strap, and no chafing!

Does your Garmin not have a chest strap? I have a Garmin Forerunner 220 with a chest strap. When at the gym, I just turn off the GPS and workout.

I too am looking for a reliable HR Monitor. With all do respect to my fellow pals out there who like them, I have owned two Polars and the MotoACTV and all three were the biggest pieces of garbage I have ever thrown away good money on! I really liked the features of the FT80 but, as with the other Polar I had, once you replaced the battery that was "all she wrote!" It's not worked since then and Polar's service leaves MUCH to be desired. When the MotoACTV came out, I had to have one. The features looked great and, and sure enough, it was a great monitor. FOR ABOUT EIGHT MONTHS! After that, it's been one problem after another. Now it's nothing but a $400.00 mp3!

So, as I said, I too am now trying to find what a reliable unit might be.
