Hey there, so as you might have guessed this is my stats. I am having a hard time getting smaller at this weight with all the workouts I do. ( I training for my second triathlon, so I train 6 day a week) I was wondering if anyone has these stats and has some advice, or even feels that they don't need to lose weight because they are comfortable. I know this is general, and every shape is different just curious.

Hi! I'm 5'7" and was stuck at 170 for a long time. I varied up/upped my workouts and it came off...but now I'm stuck at 158lbs. I think plateaus are just a part of the process. What are you eating? Maybe vary up your diet, decrease carbs, increase protein?? I started watching my sodium more closely and that helped for me as well. Good Luck!!!!:flowerforyou:

I'm just under 5'8", hovering around 170, and I definitely need to lose weight lol.

I concur you probably need to change your diet. Exercise alone isn't going to get the job done. You might need more or fewer calories and you should definitely make certain you're getting enough protein and very few carbs. Low carbs are essential to fat-burning.
  • I'm 5'8 and weigh 177.

How long have you been at 170?

I have been around 170 for the past 6 months or so, I know I look better now than I did when I was 170 without all the training. I am fairly dilligent about my eating, but I guess I just need to step it up a bit.

I'm 5'8" and at 178. Losing has really slowed for me. I was losing a consistent 2 lbs a week for about 5 months. Now I am losing 0 to .5 a week. My first goal is 165. Then on down to 150 or so. I am working on upping my exercise. Figured it just slowed down as I have less to lose now. Hard though…I got used to seeing a 2 pound drop each week.
  • I'm 5'6.5" and I was at 170 for a while. I carried the weight well for about 3 years but now I'm down to 155 and looking really trim. I didn't look bad before, I just look a lot better now. Before I thought it was just me putting on lots of muscle - I worked out a lot and was very active - but it wasn't. With my weight loss my muscle mass and definition is still there, but there isn't a layer of stuff on top (which was really hard for me to tell the difference between).

I lost about 10 lbs just cutting out refined sugars and caffeine and increasing my calcium intake (through probiotic yogurts) over the course of about 4 months. The rest of the weight is coming off in a very diverse cross training schedule (I do step, kung fu, spinning, running, and pilates - about 5 45 - 60 minute work outs per week) and eating lots of small little meals. I found that for me, eating smaller 200 ish calorie meals 5 x a day every three hours made a huge difference for my metabolism instead of having gigantor meals 3 x a day. So maybe some of those things will help you?

Other things that made a huge difference for me were getting more sleep and being less stressed. Those are two things that really stop women from losing weight in my experience.

Don't take what I do as gospel though. Everyone's body is different. I know you're working with a nutritionist who is giving you a pretty strict diet which you're not totally happy with. I hope you get a chance to talk to her about how you're feeling and what kind of things make you happy - oatmeal is NOT a bad thing to eat (full of protein) if you get it plain and add you own honey or cinnamon (you control how much goes in, not the company). If they're good they'll work well with you on that.

I hope I've given you some ideas of ways you can shake things up for you body :)

Thanks Seripha, it is hard because I don't do any milk products besides cheese. I did cut out almost all of my unnatural sugar and I don't drink caffinee. I think I might need to do some different workouts to shake up my body like you were saying. I don't know if my body can adjust when I do the same types of workouts every day. Thanks for the thoughts.
