My ex-gf maintained 5'7 and 120 while she was running marathons. She is now hanging right around 110 and I think that is way to skinny. But then again she has 4 inches on you.

Sounds like you're good where you are, but if you want to lose more, maybe try to get to 115-116 lbs and see how you feel.
  • I don't think so, I know someone who's 5'3, and 110-115 and they look great.

5'3" and 110 lbs is probably average in parts of Asia. It's thin, but certainly not unhealthy. Many smaller athletes of that size.

It depends I'm 4'10 charts say I'm supposed to weigh any where between 85-105 . My goal is to get to 100 pounds just right size for me. At 85 doctor said I was to skinny.I think it would be good.

I think that if you would eat properly and get all of your nutrients then it shouldn't be a problem. But if you become fixated on a number that you are questioning then it might be more important to think of the reasoning behind why you are looking towards 110 and make sure that reason is healthy. I don't want to seem like I'm being mean, I just think that health comes before numbers on a scale. :]

    Best of luck to you!

Hard to say. Are you physically in shape? Maybe it's more a matter of needing to tone up rather than actually losing weight? If I were 5'3" and 120 lbs, I'd be happy :) I'm 5'5" and 133, looking to get to about 125. But with all the exercise I've been doing, I actually think I look better now than when I did weigh 120 lbs.

Well, what do you think? Do you think you can comfortably maintain at 110? Do you think you'll look sickly or healthy?

I'm 5'3 and have weighed between 80lbs and 150lbs. I personally think I look good weighing anywhere between 115-125lbs, but I have a wide bone structure. If you're naturally petite it might look good on you, but if you're wide like me it might look too skinny.

It depends on how much of that currently 120 pounds is lean body mass and how much is fat.

It's difficult to give you a good answer without knowing that. If you don't have a lot of muscle, then it might not be too skinny. But no one could say for sure without more information.

This. You don't want to lose muscle. Also bone structure, though. If you're large or even medium boned that is getting a bit borderline for you. If you have wrists like little twigs, it might be about right if you're not particularly muscular.

I am about your height and the average healthy weight to be is between 107 and 135. So 110 would be on the really thin side but not unhealthy. I myself think 120 is about perfect but that is just me.

Frame size is important. Please keep in mind that the low side of the "normal" range is for the small-framed.

If you have a medium frame at 5' 3", here are what some different sites say your weight range should be:
    freedieting.com = 115-119
    Ladies' Home Journal = 112-126
    HealthCentral.com = 124-136.4

I'm 5'3 and about 9 years ago I was 109 lbs, I looked sick a gaunt. I had lost the weight going through a divorce and did not do it in a healthy way (diet and exercise). At my height and bone structure 125 is ideal. Everyone is different and only you're going to be able to decide this.

I think it depends on your frame size and body composition. I am 5'2.75" and weigh less than 110 pounds. I have a very small frame, and don't think I look too thin at this weight.

I think that it should be fine as long as you have a smaller frame

I'm planning on going down to 115. I probably wouldn't go any lower than that, but it depends on your frame, everyone is different, even if there are others of the same height. I'm doing it mostly because I want to have room to go out and have junk food days every once in a while without having to worry about going over my goal weight of 120. It's nice to have some room to move. :)

I'm 5'6 around 115-117 pounds and could still stand to lose around 7-10pounds...it all depends how your body weight is distributed and get it toned to your satisfaction.

I don't think it is too skinny. For me, I'm 5'2 and 109lbs. I'm small framed pear shaped, so for me at this weight is the only time I feel like my legs are slim. so I think this is a good weight for me. But like the above posters said, it's best to focus on health and getting enough nutrition.

At 110 pounds your BMI would be 19.5 which is perfectly healthy. Your current BMI of 21.3 at 120 pounds is healthy as well.

Some people are always judgmental. Having a good reason to lose weight (marathon runner, etc) might help deflect comments others make in attempt to discourage you from achieving your goal.

My current BMI is higher than yours, but as a guy some people think I am too thin. When I tell them I don't like to carry any excess weight when running long distances they seem to understand

Of course ideal weight caries greatly by sport. You may find this of interest:

Such an old post but might as well chime in... I'm Currently 115 but I would love to get myself down 5 more lbs (for the summer especially) and lower my bf % as well, My goal is 110 lbs. I am 5'3, I'm small framed, I think 110 pounds on 5'2 is not too thin.. although I would think anything under 110 for 5'3 would start to make you look gaunt and emaciated. My body now will NOT BUDGE under 115! It is very difficult, but I'm trying my hardest by tweaking my diet/exercise plan so I can get there..

    Good luck!

So you currently have a BMI of 21, low middle of your normal range. 110 would give you a 19, the minimum you should weigh. It's not too skinny, but lower would be.

    Yes an old thread.
For yourself instead of trying to drop weight look at doing a recomp.
Read this thread for good lifting programmes

    http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10332083/which-lifting-program-is-the-best-for-you/p1

    Then read this for recomp.

    http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10177803/recomposition-maintaining-weight-while-losing-fat/p1

This will give you a nicely sculpted body without dropping weight.
It is slow but well worth it.

    Cheers, h.

what is your current lean muscle mass (you are 120lbs) - but what % is BF and LMM?

you might do better to look at recomp rather than weight loss

I'm 63" and looked too skinny at 135. But them, I'm very muscley. It's up to you. However if you THINK that you are too skinny, then you probably are.

It depends on your build and what you're able to maintain during everyday life while still being happy with yourself and the life you lead. Personally, I'm 5"10 and 115, and I'm happy with myself. After you get down to a medically healthy weight, it really just boils down to body composition and what you're able to happily maintain.
