anyone else suffer with IBS/acid reflux?

I hate it. I have many afflictions and this one is so dumb/embarrassing. I was put on nexium to help my stomach lining for my acid reflux. But I have a hell of a time going poo. Lucky if I do every 4-5 days with stool daily softeners. I increased my flax intake, or hemp seed, and drink lots of water. Anyone found help? I;d kill to go daily, hell even every 2nd day

I used to have acid reflux when I was around 13. I was on Nexium when it had to be perscribed and it helped me loads. I also had some chewy tablets that relieved the acid in my stomach. Never had a problem with bowel movement, but for a while they had me drinking prune juice to help!

IBS since I was 9yrs old and didn't know it until I was in my 20's, always thought it was normal to take an hour have pain(severe often, I found it worse then labor lol) and only go once a week. My family used to make fun of me bcs I would be in the bathroom for so long. I discovered that dairy/too much non diet soda/dehydration were my triggers. I don't kow very much about reflux..can you handle cabbage? Watered down prune juice? how about Metamucil?

Regular cardio does wonders for me when its been awhile for a bm. In fact that and drinking a lot of water really ups my chances of regularity. Good Luck !

I have ibs or at least been told I did. I control my digestive issues through diet I've got a handle on what's gonna make me feel bad and what doesn't. Most recently I dropped wheat and don't have as much an issue with bloating. There are meds but it's no way to live. I don't even have any right now.

I get most reflux with water or something with sugar. Cal or no cal sugar.

I was told I had it at like 16-18 years due to lax abuse. I have tried cutting out foods to see what helps and what doesn;t. So far all act the same. I do cardio 6 days a week, tons of water, gonna flaxseed out from now on. If no change I will ask my dr to see a gastro intestinal specialist,

Lucky, glad you got it figured out. I know I take meds (I have no choice nowadays, withdrawal no help for it, those antidepressants almost killed my bro-who was trying to get off them! He didn't win, hey put him on a new brand to get off the others...>.<) some cause constipation but not when I was a teen and on them. 1 time I didn't go for a month, had to go to the ER. It was so embarrassing.

It wasn't really luck it took years of being angry and eating food that made me sick anyway. Then I had to so some growing up it was either eat food that I knew made me sick or don't. It sounds simple but it wasn't. And I didn't want to takeeds after each meal or daily. One made me gain 20lbs.
  • OP, I have the same situation as you. I take omeprazole. I used to have to take it daily, but now I only need it every few days. I actually don't remember the last time I took it. But yeah, I poop like every other day. Sometimes every 3rd day. It sucks.

I tried medication similar to Nexium but it didn't help. What helped me was having my coffee not on an empty stomach and taking pro-biotics. Florastor worked really well for me.
