The Importance of Water

I'm fairly new to the whole diet thing, but I started at the beginning of October with the mindset that I would get back to my high school weight by the new year (starting weight 216, current weight 183, goal weight 175). Recently I hit a stubborn platuea at 185.8....everyday I weighed that same amount. I have put a substantial amount of muscle on and am becoming more vascular (I am a guy, was very athletic in high school, and was very involved in strength training with an emphasis on bulk as I played football, basketball, baseball, etc.) One thing I have never really worked on was cardio because I assumed, through practices and games, I was getting ample cardio. Obviously being out of that loop for 10+ years now, I realize the importance of an elevated heartrate.

For the past two days, I have been drinking upwards of 90-100 oz of water a day. I assumed my stagnation was due to sodium and water retention. Needless to say, as of today I have begun shedding weight again. It was not uncommon for me to loose an average of .5 lbs a day on my current diet. I am a believer in the importance of water intake.

My one question would be, given that my plan is working well and I am loosing 15lbs a month on average, is my caloric intake sufficient? I have no problems with my muscle capacity. When I started, I could barely bench press 145lbs (where I was at one time pressing 300 lbs back in my good days). I am now pressing a solid 190-195 depending on my previous workout. So I am building muscle, improving my physique, and have lost 5 inches off my waist in 2+ months, it all is working. I just want to make sure my intake is good and I am not killing myself on my calories. I average about 1500 a day. My MFP goal is around 1580 without exercise. Somedays I dip below 1200, but I still lose weight. Any advice or comments?

Make sure you are eating lots of protein in your diet as well as drinking the water. Keep up the great work.

I have read you are supposed to drink 50% of your weight in ounces of water every day. So you are right there. Imagine what i had to drink at 370 :( I did a gallon at least.
