my goal is to have a nice toned body by the time summer gets here. i have only been here a week. trying to have patience as i am a patient person, im beginning to become over whelmed. it's cold. even in my house its cold. where its warm i want to snuggle and be warm. Help me out. I need words to help me stick to this. what advice do you have?

its a marathon not a sprint. Very cold here too0

the thought that always goes through my head is "just think this summer you WILL NOT be buying a size 18 bathing suit"....it's enough to keep me going, lol
good luck0 -
It's 22 degrees here right now... I'm about to go do some exercise to warm myself up. It helps, plus it will help towards your toned body goal.
It's off to the elliptical with me....0 -
My goal is about the same. It is cold here as well. 30 right now but the mornings are hoving just above zero. Brrr! For what its worth you are NOT alone and you CAN do this! :flowerforyou: Exercise is a good way to warm up - not always as fun as the snuggling, at least not to start but the aftermath is always worth it for me. Good Luck!0

What, specifically, is overwhelming you? Let's see if we can break it down and make it not seem so bad.0

AH!! for me music is the key, i put on up-beat music and start dancing to it if i feel lazy, try it, maybe you will like it , after the first five minutes of struggle with laziness you will feel really good and will generate endorpines
i'm new in this too, let's try together

I agree.
If the issue is motivatio when it cold, I have the same issue. It is freezing here, high today was 20. What I will usually do is warm up my bedroom with my space heater to loosen myself up. (I get really tight and tense when I am cold.) Once I warm up a bit I go out to the living room with many layers of clothes on and as I get going in my workout I take of the some of the layers. Once I am done I treat myself to a nice hot shower. Then I go to bed feeling great (and warm.)0 -
Hey Jenn, I'm sure it sucks to be in the cold and not feeling much like working out. I'm a 41 year old soldier stationed in Afghanistan and would love nothing more than to get a full night's sleep in a warm bed and not have to worry about working out. But I get up and go every day. I find that I'm better off mentally and physically because of it. Find what motivates you...write your goals down and read them every day. Focus on the positive, not the negative. Say it in the current affirmative. Something like "I'm happy to have my summer body by(whatever date you have chosen) and I look GREAT in my summer clothes." When you have those times when you don't feel like getting out of the warm, snugglies, read your goal card, it'll help get you motivated again! We're always here for encouragement! Good luck and I look forward to seeing your progress...0

It's freezing here too!! It snowed all day!
I say pick up 30 Day Shred and do that every day. It's my exercise right now and it's great--it gets my blood pumping and it doesn't require me to get outside and workout. I also find that if I do my workout in the AM I feel warmer all day long. Get that heart rate up!0 -
I understand you
This is what i have figured out for myself
" cold days/ cloudy weather etc- i think bring back memories of childhood, when my family was together, we had it warm inside, would drink hot cocoa etc.. so i think it's more about " memories ' what we are used to.
But there is nothing wrong with " changing " the traditions.. we can keep the good old times in our memories- but we can start making some new ones ..
Also - i think you can benefit from a podcast - " marathon academy " - found on I tunes for free to listen/download..
just today i have listened to some of them and it was amazing - examples of what human body can do - if the mindset is right.
Few examples- - marathon- in the death valley !!! During the run the runners have to change their shoes a couple of times because they are melting !
Or a ironman triathlon in freezing waters !
One guy got hit buy a bus- ! he had 22 surgeries- just to put him back together- one of his legs is about 2 inches shorter than the other- his pelvic broken- , knees, hips etc etc- he not only survived but finished a marathon
I think after listening to such extraordinary examples of " strong will " - i got the motivation to get up and move - it's all in our head
Just get up and get dressed- i think for me the hardest part is getting dressed to work out- as soon as i step on my treadmill i'm redy to go
Keep in touch .. stay here - don't stop writing/reading.. persistance is the key0 -
my main problem is the cold. if im warm i have no problem getting up and getting my workout done. in fact, ill work out all day. i typically jog in place to get my heart rate up. warms me up a bit and its better. its just the process of getting myself to do that. im not big, im just a bit chubby.0
