Just a thought about acne in a 40 year old man. I had acne as a teenager and it returned when I was in my mid to late 30's and early 40's. I went to a dermatologist who basically said that 40 year old men don't get acne. He diagnosed me with Acne Rosacea and put me on a metronidazole cream which took the problem away in a couple of weeks. Something to consider...0

[/quote]My girlfriend uses ivory soap. That's it. I didn't list my hair gel in fear of being banned forever.

Hey! I know this is "men's grooming" and I have no place here, but that has never stopped me before
I had severe acne my entire life, to the point where even serious medication prescribed by my dermatologist had virtually no effect. I tried proactive and it gave me the WORST first degree burn imaginable (ended up in the ER). In a last ditch effort I was told about acne.org and honestly, a total life saver. I wish I could express how incredible this system is. And you do NOT need to buy their products (I do, because it's easier, but you can find everything at the local drugstore/Walgreens/Zellers/etc)
Cleanser - Clean and Clear for Sensitive skin
Treatment - 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide
Moisturizer - Olay w/ SPF 15, (NO avobenzone!! Check your moisturizer for avobenzone/oxybenzone, this could be the cause of your breakouts)
Eye - Nothing
Shaving Cream - Use your cleanser if you can, or use a non-comedogenic cream
Razor - Twin razor blades for closeness and minimum irritation (Gillette Sensor Excel recommended)
Body Wash - If you have body acne, use your cleanser. Or try Head and Shoulders Shampoo - It contains zinc which can minimize your outbreaks
Cologne - Whatever makes you smell sexy
I am NOT an advertisement or being paid by acne.org but I do really recommend their regimen. It's all about minimal irritation, being consistent, and having patience. It took about 2 full months for my acne to clear up but it was worth every day. I have been on it for over a year now and I have no acne at all. I would be happy to send you pics from before and after to show you my success. It's really been a complete life saver.
Here's a detailed link on the plan and what you need: http://www.acne.org/regimen.html
Good luck! :flowerforyou:

OH And invest in some jojoba oil - Should be able to get this at a high end grocery store, pharmacy or health store. It's a great moisturizer; use it on your lips, face, hair, basically anywhere, and it won't clog pores. I add it to moisturizer in the winter and it works wonders. It's also a fabulous make-up remover (yea, not really your thing, I know...)! It's a great substitute for shaving oil, as well.
Just a tip :happy:0 -

Goats Milk Soap
Nivea Moisturizer for men (sensitive skin)
Gillet Shave gel
Mach III razor

I think it's necessary for men to moisturize...especially mine because rain or shine, snow or heat, he works outside...his face gets so chapped he can't even smile without cracking. He has such a baby face that he only has to shave once a week, but he needs to moisturize more often. and he has really nice skin!0 -

Wow you use almost as much stuff as I do! & I'm known for having a lot of junk in my bathroom drawers lol But in my opinion, you can't go wrong with aveno, neutragena, or a really yummy smelling cologne (I'm addicted to Swiss Army but apparently it's discontinued )0 -
Don't feel so bad. My guy uses all that crap too. But I buy him the Bath & Body men stuff so he is possibly even more metro (he makes up for it by yelling at football every weekend and scratching his junk at every opportunity). I will recommend your eye stuff. He is three years younger than me and has way worse crows feet than I do. I don't have wrinkles0
