depends on what you mean by low carb!
I do believe too low carb is not good for extended period of time. Sometimes I'll do low carb for 2-3 days 20 carbs and under. To switch things up. But most of the time I eat about 60-90 carbs. Which I think is still considered low carb. I"m all allowed 168 carbs I think according to MFP and I do not believe I've ever eaten that much.
I try to eat in moderation and thats the number I fall in 60-90 carbs usually.
I'm not losing weight at an amazing rate. But I would not say I'm losing weight at a normal rate either. I think I'm slow.

Depends on what kind of carbs. Complex carbs are good for you, your body needs them. Refined, not so much. I cut most refined carbs out of my diet. I feel much better now. I'm not as tired. I would say if you are low on the refined, then, yes, I would have a favorable outlook on it. If it was cutting out all carbs and upping protein, I wouldn't suggest it. Just be conscious of what kind of carbs you're eating, unless your doctor is requiring you to restrict your diet.0

my nutritionist suggested no carbs at dinner for the first month and then carbs twice a week at dinner. That is referring to pasta, bread etc..carbs from veggies are fine
Also its always a good idea to stay away from white pasta and bread, sticking to whole wheat is better, keeps you full longer too0 -
I dropped 40 pounds in 3 months using the Aktins diet. I gained it all back very quickly once I started eating bread again.
You have to think long term about the type of food you will eat the rest of your life. Do this and you will be successful. I do not consider myself to be on a diet. I am just eating healthier food. Smaller portions, more often during the day.
I typically eat about 80-90 carbs a day but try and limit the carbs after 3pm. I find this helps when I am in weight loss mode.0 -
I am not personally a fan of low carb..i mean everyones body is different I haven’t had a problem losing weight by just eating normally and in moderation and also by what mfp recommends…and I think that is the best way..if you went low carb for a while as soon as your body eats normal carbs again you will retain more water and gain the weight back. Plus carbs need to be burnt during exercise! There there for energy and to keep you going throughout the day ! hope this helps!0

I have just recently started working with a nutritionist and have been doing low carb/high protein (with 1200 calories). In the past I have always done Weight Watchers and did really well until I got tired of counting points, then I would gain the weight that I'd lost plus some. For me doing low carb/high protein took some getting used to (I'm still learing as I go), but I have lost about 25 pounds doing this and I really don't miss the "bad" carbs (bread, pasta, potatoes, etc...) I think this "lifestyle change" will definitely pay off for me in the long run as far as keeping the weight off and eating healthier.0

If I don't eat enough carbs, I feel really tired. Also, if you are a runner, as your ticker indicates, you probably shouldn't go low carb.0

Thanks, I was just looking for input as my mom is on this whole go low card for 10 days thing. And I am a bit skeptical about it, as I see it as a quick fix, and I don't see it going anywhere unless you do it long term(which I wouldn't). I also never go over my carbs for the day, so I think I am doing good.0

Low carb is the BIGGEST load of crap ever! Honestly! There is a difference in carbs... if you are eating simple carbs ie white bread, white rice, white pasta.... They are stripped of all of their nutritional value and are horrid for you. But COMPLEX carbs are the way to go... ie Multi grain pasta, multi grain bread, brown rice wild rice etc.... Your body NEEDS COMPLEX carbs to survive and work properly!
In North America we are junkies! Our bodies CANNOT break down as much protein as we intake! take your body weight in pounds x .36= recommended protein intake. And Protein is found in WAY more than just meat, you can obtain more than enough protein in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds and legumes. All this overdose of meat is going to get you is heart disease, all sorts of cancer and diabetes.
The best thing you can do for yourself is to eat a complete balanced diet... With a little bit of everything. (And Simple carbs are not one of them they are empty fillers and a waste.)0
