Hey All,

I have lost around 40 pounds in last 4 months... I have been eating well and exercising regularly but I have noticed a major difference in my hair.... My hair have really become dull, dry and I have lost almost 50% of my hair so far... They have become extremely thin...

My daily calorie intake (without exercise calories) is 1200.... The diet split is 45% carbs, 35% protein and 20% Fat with Sodium intake as 2000mg

I usually try and avoid carbs after the evening....

For protein - Apart from food sources, I use USN IGF-1 and Phd Diet Whey.... Usually have usn before bed coz it has casein... and Phd Diet Whey - after workouts and early morning.

I m really worried about my hair fall and quality !!! Help please....

Luv n Hugs,
S.K.B

Great job on the weight loss! I started loosing my hair really badly to but I had just given birth but I started using this shampoo called organix you can find it in most grocery stores and within a couple days it slowed way down and after a couple weeks it completely stopped not sure if it was the shampoo or not but it's worth a try I love the shampoo to so would have kept using it anyway here is what it looks like http://beautypureandsimple.com/

I'm going to suggest talking to your doctor about it. There might be some type of vitamin that you need to get more of or something.

I'm not an expert, but I've read that not getting enough protein or being anemic can cause hair loss. I've also heard that the horomonal changes that come with dieting and weight loss could be a culprit. Some people have said that being on the pill can have some effects. Maybe check into some of those?? Hope you find some answers!

Oh yeah! I also read that taking a supplament/vitamin--even like prenatal vitamins are great for your hair and nails even if you aren't pregnant. I have many girlfriends who still take their pill and haven't been pregnant in awhile!

    Two options...

take an OTC suppliment with biotin (I think there is one for hair, skin and nails that works well) some omega3/6 suppliments, and MSM

    OR

work in some healthy fats (fatty fish, egg yolks, olive oil, nuts) and some liver or dark green leafy vegies

I wish my hair loss could be explained by diet, etc! Then maybe I could do something about it besides having to accept it. That reminds me...time to make a pass with the razor. If I don't and I let it grow too much, I seriously start looking like the 'pointy-haired boss' in the Dilbert cartoon. Not a good look for any real person. LOL

Good luck to you though -- I sincerely hope you find some helpful answers here.
