Hi all, hoping to get a support group board going here - I've tried jumping into a few that were already going but felt like a bit of an oddball since there was already so much going on.

I'm looking for people that want to be active at least daily on the boards, and really be a source of support and accountability on here. My main goal at the moment is 30lbs by St Patrick's Day (which would put me in Onederland :) ) so similar goals are a plus but not necessary!

Who's with me?

    Fabulous idea! :drinker:
  • Sounds like a plan! :-)
  • I think this sounds like an awesome plan! I'm in!
  • Yay, great to see we've already got some people on board!

We have about 13 weeks until 3/17/2011, so that is approximately 2lb a week loss - for me that is 1200cals a day before exercise. That's 400cals a meal, or 300cals a meal with 300cals left for snacks. Not much, but doable - although I do definitely get in some exercise a day (I aim for a minimum of 200-300cals of exercise; I've got a one year old and I'm a SAHM so depending on her mood that sometimes works out, and sometimes doesn't :) )

Anyone with any recommendations for low cal meals and snacks - I've just switched down to this 1200cals/day today.

We're going to do intro posts also; I'm just waiting until the end of the day to see who else joins us!
  • Hey ladies (and gentlemen welcome too of course!) - don't forget to invite people from your friend lists; we want a great group of supportive people here!

If everyone could post their SW, ultimate GW, and any current struggles or obstacles they'd like help with, that'd be great.

Name/age/how long you've been with MFP/all that jazz too of course :)

My SW for this challenge is in my signature - my ultimate goal weight for the moment is 160, and I'll reevaluate wen I reach that. My goal by St Patrick's Day though is 199.

I'm KiKi, turned 29 this past October, and I've been on MFP since around April 2010. My weight loss has been slow up to this point as I have a 1yr old that I've been breastfeeding so could not dip my calorie intake too much. She's still breastfeeding, but has cut way back recently, as she's been eating solids, so I feel like now is a good time to get really serious about this.

My main struggles are finding time to work out properly - when the weather was nice we'd get out and go for a lot of walks, but we've been stuck indoors a lot lately with the snow (that even cuts out mall walks because the idea of driving on icy roads with an infant in the car is terrifying). I've got a couple of dvds though with 10 and 15min workouts so I'm starting to do those a couple of times a day - overall shooting for at least 30min a day of cardio. I sneak in weights and resistance bands sporadically throughout the day as well.

Hi Kiki! My name is Amy. I'm 27, single and somewhat of a workaholic! I currently weigh 326. My next goal is to hit 320 by Christmas Eve, and 299 at St. Patrick's Day! To date, I have lost 54 pounds since starting mfp at the end of July.

I've been struggling with exercise. I work ridiculously long days - at its worst from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. or later. I've managed to eat well, and stick within my calories, but not how to work in exercise to the majority of my days!

I've been dieting off and on for years - starting when I was in high school, and joined weight watchers. I completely gave up for about two years, and "only" managed to gain ten or so pounds. I plan on reaching my goal weight in early 2012; right now I'm aiming for 170.

Looking forward to getting to know you!

I'm interested. My name is Brenda and I'm 42. I've lost 125 lbs last year, then gained 25lbs, so I now have about 75 lbs left to lose.

I have discovered fattening, greasy food again, and I wish I didn't like it.

I started running last year, and have been conned into running a half marathon in May. I've found running at 200 is a lot easier than running at 225.

Besides, I too really want to be under 200 lbs (last year, I was under 200lbs for ONE day, but could never get down below it).

    Lets do this!!!!

7am-11pm! Wow, what line of work are you in? :) Prior to having my daughter I was upper division admin at a medical clinic - long hours and often seated. I ditched the chair for a stability ball a great deal of the day, and put on a pedometer to make sure I got enough steps in. It is hard to stay on top of, but little tweaks make it possible :)

Hey, don't look at it as a con - it's a challenge and an opportunity! Hopefully just what you need to regain that motivation :) I'd love to take up running. Sometimes I put on my sneakers, put my daughter in her push toy, and jog around the living room, lol. If I get to under 200 I just may invest in a jogging stroller!
  • I am interested in going the group. I have 4 kids worth of baby weight to lose. I am just starting and have a ways to go. I am new to MFP. My issues are motivation and unhealthy eating habits. I need accountability. Excited to start!

Heya, good for you for getting started! I've become pretty obsessed with healthy eating - and this is from someone that in high school would eat Taco Bell and drink Mtn Dew all day. Definitely feel free to ask anything you want about eating habits!
  • Tomorrow is Friday, thinking of having that as official weekly weigh in day!

I'm the assistant store manager in charge of perishables at a large grocery store chain. It's ridiculous some days, but I love it. I spend a good part of my day standing/walking. I usually get my steps in (depending on what kind of day it is!!) but don't count that as exercise, since it's part of my daily routine. The only problem is when I finally take a day off (I've become one of those fools who work on their day off.) I tend to want to do NOTHING. LIke today: I slept until 10 a.m., made breakfast, cleaned up around the house, made lunch, watched a movie, THEN TOOK A NAP, before making dinner, and watching another movie.

Sadly, I'm stil tired, and I know it's because I haven't done anything!!

Hi, Brenda! Isn't it crazy how frying something always seems to make it more delicious? For instance: Green beans! I found myself making choices the other day that led me to green bean fries and a mojito and TGI Fridays.

    You can totally do this!!
  • It's Friiiidaaayyyy! Weigh in day!

Also, weekends are rough for a lot of people. How do YOU stay on track over the weekends? Business as usual? Extra workouts? Cheat day?
  • Official Friday Weigh in: 229.0
    Let's hope I see 227 next week!

    325.2!
5.2 pounds to lose before Christmas! It blows my mind to think I cannot remember weighing this much before. It's been more than four years ago, and must have been during one of my "I don't care" stages.

Weekends don't usually tend to be hard for me - just business as usual, since I almost always work. It's those days in the middle of the week that randomly kill me!!

Well I'm in. I'm about to be 30 and I need to lose weight. I'm in the Air Force, so while some may look at me and not see me as obese (yet still overweight), I look so gross next to all these size 00's that I work with. So that's my vain reason, I'm tired of being the "big girl" at work, and I just want to wear sexy clothes! I also want to look sexy for my husband. He is awesome!

When I joined the Air Force in 2003, I weighed in at 145ish. A year and a half later I went on birth control and gained 50 lbs overnight (well, in 3 months). That put me about 190. Since then I've gained another 10-15 pounds. Depending on the month, I'm anywhere from 195 to 205. So right now I'm at 199, and getting down to 195 won't be anything fantastic, since I see it all the time. It's getting below 193 that is hard for me. I'm going to try to stick to eating 200 calories less than my goal (depending on my weight) caloric intake. I want to burn at least 300 calories a day, which will put me at 500 deficit a day, 3500 a week, therefore 1 lb a week. Sooo, my goal weight for St. Patty's day is just 186, only 13 lbs lighter.

I have rewards built in for myself. I want to buy myself a coach purse when I get to 175. My goal weight is 140.

Glad to have you aboard! :)

Rewards are definitely important - as soon as I see 195 I plan on picking up a few new pairs of pants. All of the ones I've had since beginning this journey are loose enough to be able to pull up and down without undoing the zip or button, but I've just been using a belt and telling myself "why waste money on new pants that will hopefully be too large in the near future" ;-)

I set not only a rewards at a certain weights but a challenge as well. Once I lost 100lbs, I bought myself the latest ipod. But I also had to join a gym, which I now enjoy more than the ipod!!!
  • I'm up to the challenge. One of the best low calorie fill you up foods is soup (especially homemade with cabbage and other veggies) I love to have it this time of year.
  • I am Jessica a SAHM of 4 kids. 7, 3, 2 and 1. I overall would like to lose 50lbs. My Hubby is deployed and I want him to come home to one SEXY Mama!

    Weigh in day 180lbs
  • I'm in! I have lost and gained the same 50lbs for the last few years, I want to ditch it, once and for ALL! I'm over this relationship! LOL

I started MFP about a week and a half ago, and have lost 5.6lbs already. Mostly because I gave up soda, am drinking water like it's going out of style and am giving up gluten to test for Celieac desease. Yay me! *rolls eyes*

    My CW is 258lbs.
My goal for 1.1.11 is 253lbs.
So for St. Patricks day: 233lbs. !!!

    This will be fun.

Oh, and my name is Peggy.

Hi, Peggy! Congratulations on your weight loss so far! I have a couple of friends who have gone gluten-free, and they were both amazed at the difference in their bodies, and how they felt once it was all out of their system! Good luck to you!
