I just had 180 grams of grilled medium rare lean steak. How do I log this? I assume as it was a rather lean meat it lost mostly water when barbecuing it. Thus I should probably know what the weight was before bbq. Which I can't as I'm traveling. Hmpf... Any suggestions?

Do you know what cut it is? For a medium-rare, I'd throw another 40-50 grams on for raw weight.

I'm curious too. I always use the 'cooked' entry, but I know it's not accurate.

no, no idea which cut. I mow added 40% for lost water, purely based on what a steak looks like that I prepare at home. but I wonder if that's too much. If it is then I'm underesting slightly and get less protein.

I track mine based on the cut and the pre-cooking weight.

Yes, but if I get a steak served in a hotel I don't know what the precooked weight is. I tried asking but they found the question funny and thought they didn't understand me.

You have to make estimates all the time, you'll never got your calories recorded exact.

I'd guess it was sirloin or rump, and a decent sized one would be aroudn 150g raw weight.
