Cardio Advice

I'm really enjoying riding my bike. I ride average 17 miles each day. Some days I do increase to 25-30 miles and on weekends I prefer to ride 40-50 or more. Needless to say I'm doing a lot of riding. I know I'm doing huge amounts of cardio and limited at the moment with weight training. September or October I will again begin the weight lifting regimen. I've been noticing lately that I'm not getting winded or heart pounding out of my chest when I ride. Although I feel the thigh muscles working, especially when climbing these crazy hills. I realize I'm burning calories. But am I no longer burning as many calories as I once had? Should I find a way to increase my rides or the difficulties of the ride? Times I feel I'm over thinking things. And maybe I am. But I'm trying to do the right thing. I know some will ask if I'm wearing a heart rate monitor and the answer is no I'm not. I have my Fitbit always on me but I'm mostly relying on that for daily steps and stairs. For my rides I use the MapMyRide app and just sync what it reads. I don't eat back calories so my calorie counts aren't relied on. Btw I'm at the same weight I was a year ago. And would love to find a way to kick start the weight loss process again. I have at least an addictional 50-60lbs to lose. And wouldn't think I should be at such a long lasting plateau with all my bike rides! Any help or suggestions would be awesome. Thanks !!!

  • maybe ride same distance in a lower gear so that you work harder to cover that distance
