Right time exercises postpartum?

I had my baby August 2nd and want to start doing abdominal exercises. Not strenuous ones but somewhere to start. I checked for diastasis recti and found that I can't fit two fingers between the muscles above, at, and below my belly button so it should be safe to start working them I hope? I don't want to hurt myself being too eager so just looking for a little advice on what should be ok. I know nothing strenuous until my Dr clears me at 6 weeks so I have been going for lots of walks with my kids. What are some safe low-impact exercises I could be doing? Thanks for any helpful responses.

    CONGRATS!!! Is this your first?

Definitely hold off as much as possible until that 6 week mark as your body is going through a LOT right now! Light walking for sure but really don't worry about too much more until you get clearance, you could actually do more harm than good.

Feel free to friend me, my little guy is 6.5 months now (I can't believe it!)!

I wouldn't do ANYTHING without your Doc's advice. I understand the want, need, and desire to tone up those belly muscles, but your body is going through hell right now trying to heal all kinds of internal damage caused by pregnancy/birth and you just don't need the extra stress on your body.
The walking is great. Seriously. It is helping you.
I used to cradle the baby, sit forward on the couch, and rock side to side and front to back just to get some movement in my midsection, but that was all.

Take care of you, mama!!! Congrats on your new bundle!
