Guys - girls who are "normal" sized or have a belly?

My boyfriend says he loves the way I look
So it is clearly that it is you that wants to change maybe. Well go after what you want. If you want that small stomach. Keep eating in calorie deficit.
My preference now is I would not care to much for a stomach. As long as I do not have to move it out the way to get where I need to be.0 -

So I've been dieting for 2 months now and have dropped 10 lbs. I'm 139 lbs now and 5'6'' tall.
I have skinny legs and arms, but I tend to carry my weight in my belly. I don't have a huge stomach by any means, but it isn't flat. A little soft, I would say lol.
What do guys think of girls with stomachs that aren't so flat. It is the only part of me that I am insecure about. My boyfriend says he loves the way I look, but I can't get past my stomach. I think I look fine in clothes, but not so great without them.
Thoughts, opinions, experiences, or stories anyone?
I don't really care. Your inner beauty is what counts. Strictly basing your opinion of attractiveness on outward physical appearance is dumb. If you are eating right and taking care of yourself, it will be obvious. That's what should count. And that you are doing it for YOU. Also, look at Models from the 60's and 70's. CURVES. So your stomach is not perfectly flat. Do you really want to be JUST LIKE every other skinny girl out there, or do you want to be YOURSELF?

These are a few photos of me. I have lost weight since the pics, so I've shrunk a little bit. But not a whole lot of difference. Sorry about the quality, too, uploaded from my phone. And excuse the makeup in the dress pic, it was a couple years back and embarrassing to look at now lol.

And I am so happy and glad that my boyfriend finds me attractive and loves me just the way I am, but unfortunately, it doesn't take away my own insecurities.
Nice dress you've got there.0 -
Surely all girls have a belly. I mean, it's not as if there is a gap where their midriff is and the top half is floating around.
Now, I'm no doctor, or a vet for that matter. But see the picture below, this woman has no belly, and for me, that doesn't look very healthy at all now does it. And you can see the expression on her face, does she look happy she has no belly. i think not.
Love that movie0 -
So I took new before/after pics today. I can't really see a whole lot of a difference from 4 lbs ago. However, while sitting down on my bed in a sports bra and shorts, I look over at myself in the mirror and notice that I don't have a small roll right under my bra like I used to. Woo hoo! That made me really happy and motivated again.
Thanks everyone for the posts; positive, negative, or stupid. I just like knowing and reading others opinions about a subject of mine. It helps me to realize whether I am being stupid or my concern is valid. Sometimes I can be a little stupid about things, I'll admit. But reading comments about it, good or bad, tends to make me feel better. Thanks everyone. I've now realized that I need to lose about 10 more lbs to be where I want to be. I've never been at this weight at this point in my life, so starting out I didn't know what weight I needed to be at. But I think 10 lbs will set me at a good weight. Motivated and happy at this point. Thanks everyone. :flowerforyou:0 -
"just average nothing special" is really how you feel about yourself?0

Thanks. That was my senior homecoming dress. Even though it hasn't been that long ago, I'm already looking back at my high school photos and cringing at the way I looked sometimes haha.0 -
I have to say with a little belly - my wife has a small belly - skinny but with belly and I love it.0

first of all, what is "normal"? Second of all, you should be happy with yourself for yourself. Third, your boyfriend said he loves you the way you are. If you're not, work on losing body fat. Love yourself.0

this sounds like one of those people who wants to lift weights and doesn't realize it...

I always get a chuckle when people on a fitness website, who exercise and monitor calories to lose weight, give advice to other people to ignore what others think. lulz

I always get a chuckle when people on a fitness website, who exercise and monitor calories to lose weight,
Because having painful, chafed thighs after a day walking around Disneyworld, my blood pressure and cholesterol being higher than ever and not being able to run anymore (when I used to do 5Ks no problem) are all about what other people think.0 -

That statement is trivial, in a logical way, and impossible to argue. We all do things out of self-interest. Duh. It is a false dichotomy, and a straw man, to assert that because I say people on a fitness website want to lose weight for vanity purposes automatically don't have reasons for losing weight that are not vanity, specifically those that pertain to health and well-being.0 -
If your boyfreiend is telling you look good, I suggest you either tell him you don't care what he thinks (primarily because you are interested in what other men think) or actually listen to him and stop worrying.0

I understand where you're coming from, but I don't necessarily think everyone on here is doing it for other people, just looking for motivational support.
I joined MFP for motivational support. Reading and talking with others about weight loss really helps to keep me on track.
However, I will be the first to admit that I didn't start losing weight for me, really. But looking back, I see that all of these factoris around me that made me lose weight were all for me to feel better. I didn't lose weight because there are skinnier girls around me. I lost it because I was sick of being jealous of them. I have never been overweight or taunted for my weight. Nothing like that. I want to be able to look good in whatever I please.0 -

So, whose opinion am I seeking in trying to lose weight? I didn't say there was no vanity involved, as *I* would like to be smaller than I am. But your assumption that I care what others think is incredibly shallow and uninsightful.
Obviously, the OP cares or she wouldn't have asked. I, on the other hand, have never started a thread on here asking others if a part of my body was acceptable to them because, frankly, I don't care. And I doubt I'm the only one.
But enjoy your condescension.0 -

Ya know, as big of a jerk as you come off as (especially in the comment that you conveniently edited into the present comment), you are true.
Why do I dismiss my boyfriend's comments of approval about my body while worrying about what others think of it? Maybe I think he is lying or just don't believe him because how could he possibly find my body attractive? But maybe it is indeed just in my mind and I'm being not so nice by worrying about strangers opinions while not believing my own boyfriend. I need to think on this...0 -
This is the same as me, no matter what weight I am, my belly always carries the excess weight and looks soft / not really flat.
My boyfriend has never had an issue, and seems to love it.
Also judging from before after pics on Facebook, where a girl has gone from slim with a little bit of a belly, to very slim with defined abs, half the comments seem to be from guys saying 'she looked better before' It bugs the hell out of me because she didn't ask for an opinion, nor did she do it for them, but still, if you get anything positive from it it's that a lot of guys seem to love girls looking a bit soft and not too defined.
Of course, everyone is different and attraction is very subjective and varied. Do what you want and what will make you happy. I'm set on achieving visible abs and I'm going to get then even if the bf prefers me more soft. I trust that for him there's more to my attractiveness than just that one area. I'm sure you find your SO attractive even if he's not 'perfect' (your physical ideal in every single area)0 -

Sounds like a personal problem to me...
If you like your boyfriend, don't project your insecurity onto him....prolly would drive him off eventually...
Especially if he is saying he loves the way you look
I personally don't need a woman to have a 6-pack
Being fit and in-shape (it looks like she has an interest in fitness, diet, exercise, etc....) is fine with me.
Being ripped and shredded, not necessary0 -

a little cushion for pushin......perhaps??0 -
As a feminist it really bothers me when girls ask "what do guys think?" because you shouldn't give a crap about what guys think, you should only care about your own opinion of yourself0

Thank you for your opinion, but I'm not a feminist, so I do care about others opinions. But thank you, anyway.0 -

Unfortunately, too much cushion is bad for you so I have to change that, but still...0
