"Large-Framed Men; MedlinePlus provides guidelines to help determine if men are large boned, or have large frame sizes. Based on these recommendations, men are classified as large framed if they are over 5 feet 5 inches tall with a wrist circumference of more than 7.5 inches. Men of the same height are small framed if their wrist size is 5.5 to 6.5 inches around, and they have medium frames if their wrist is 6.5 to 7.5 inches around, according to MedlinePlus. Use a tape measure to measure the circumference of your wrist to determine if you have a small, medium or large frame size." Quote,Livestrong.com
Small frame; 5.5 to 6.5 inch wrist
Medium frame; 6.5 to 7.5 inch wrist
Large frame; over 7.5 inch wrist
Question; If small, medium and large frames are measured in one inch increments, what of a man with an 8.5 inch wrist? Could he be considered an x-large frame?
My specifics; 52 years old male, 6'2" tall
8.5 inch wrist; 3.5 inch elbow (if you use that method)
54" chest ( this is when I am in very good shape) a little large than that at the moment
the smallest my waist can be is 36" ( that is hip bone to hip bone)
A large-framed man who is 6 feet 2 inches tall has an ideal weight of 209 pounds, but in order to get a BMI of 24.9, the highest end of normal my weight can not exceed 194.
I am trying to figure out what weight I should shoot for.
Any and all help would be appreciated.

I wouldn't worry about BMI it's an average and doesn't account for frame size muscle mass etc.
Aim for the 209, when you get there look in the mirror, jump up and down (to see if anything wobbles that shouldn't) and if you are happy great. If not try dropping another 5lbs and see how you feel.
You may also find that before you get to 209 you are happy and don't need to lose more.
Goals may change over time depending on various factors but it's good to have a goal and reassess when you get near that goal.
Hope this helps.0 -
Ideal body weight can be a tricky thing. I go by my body fat %. You can have very different weights at the same body fat %. It just depends on how much muscle you have. I don't like BMI. BMI indicated that I was over weight when I was at 10% body fat. That is ridiculous. I am in fantastic shape.
If you have happy with your body composition at 209, or whatever weight, and are as fit as you deem appropriate, then that is where you should be at that time.

I think you're getting ahead of yourself. Just take it 10 lbs at a time. When you're comfortable with where you are at and healthy, then stop. Don't worry about charts that tell you where the 80th percentile should fall.0
