Fitbit or Bodymedia armband?

I have the the Bodybugg (Bodymedia armband) which measures calories burned, steps taken, and activity. But now on MFP, I'm seeing that everyone has the Fitbit. I'm thinking about switching over because right now I'd have to pay about $7/month for the Bodymedia's online synching and tools, wheras the Fitbit synching and online tools are free once you purchase either the clip or wristband. I'd like some feedback on the Fitbit -- how accurate is it? How exactly does it work (the Bodymedia armband calculates based on bodyheat)? Can the clip be clipped onto any part of your clothes? Any other things I should know before buying it???

Having had both, I prefer Fitbits for their lack of ongoing fee, small size, lack of skin contact, displays and wireless synching. Fitbits aren't perfect, the company can be terrific or frustrating, but the combo of features is hard to beat, for my uses.

I know BM has some skin sensors but I think both tools mostly go by the internal accelerometer in each, for estimating calorie burns.

Also, does the Fitbit only sync to a PC wirelessly? Or can USB be plugged in to sync it?

The Fitbit will come with a dongle for wireless syncing to a PC. Or you can sync by bluetooth if you have a compatible phone/device.

The Fitbit cannot even touch the BodyMedia armband for accuracy. If you NEED accuracy, stick with the armband. If you are ok with estimates and guesstimates, then Fitbit will do...its certainly more comfortable and cost effective. Personally, I need the accuracy of my armband and rely heavily on it for motivation and progress checks.
