:frown: I just got back from an annual biometric screening. They do your biometrics for my work health insurance and you actually get paid if you do better from year to year.
I am really bummed out by my results.
Height: 5'5 1/2 "
Weight: 166 lbs
Waist circumferance: 35 (??!!)
BMI*: 26
Weirdly my cholestrol was high, too? Which is new, I've never ever had a problem with high cholesterol...
So....I have almost 10-month-old twins and I still have about 20 lbs to lose of baby weight PLUS another 10-15 to be at my goal. I work pretty hard at making good choices, exercising, all the things. I'm really struggling to feel good about myself. I don't feel pretty. I don't feel good about anything I see in the mirror. And I'm really impatient to get where I want to go.
*BMI is actually useless for individuals - it's a statistician's method of evaluating large populations and really should not be used to evaluate individuals. But that doesn't make me feel better.

10 month old twins are quite a handful!! I definitely admire your efforts in trying to lose weight!
Not trying to bum you out more - but the question is: now that you have the results, what are you willing to do about it?
One of my husband's favorite movie lines is Yoda - "There is only do or do not. There is no try."
You don't have to get down to 105 to feel good about yourself either. If you want to get to 145 and then decide if you're happy there or want to go on a little more.
I definitely know how you feel about the impatient thing. I wish I could take off the weight as fast as I can put it on! Unfortunately, that's not the case. SO we have to trudge forward at tortoise speed.
Stick with it, and you'll get there!!0 -
You know what really helped me? A few months ago I had lost about 6-10lbs and I was sort of feeling how you are now... so I went to Glamour Shots and got to be pampered and feel important and got these really awesome pictures of myself that make me look freakin' amazing. If its feasible financially... I say do something like that where you can really remember what it feels like just to be you, to be important, to be pretty. Good luck and hang in there!0

Hey Sparkle! Don't be discouraged. One thing you have in your favor is that you're still young and got plenty of time to put all this together. When you get to my age, anything under 40 is young.
True, BMI is not the best tool to measure one's health status. Body composition will always be the best indicator for where you're at and how you're progressing. If you don't have these kind of tools available, here's a great site full of tools, calculators, pre-designed workouts, sample meal plans and other fine resources: https://exercisevideolibrary.com If you'd like to try them out for free, just contact them.
So keep your head up and maintain a positive attitude and you'll do just fine! Till next time, keep on pumpin'!0 -
You said you're working hard and mostly making good choices. So, I wonder, why doesn't that make you feel good about yourself? (not a criticism, a real question)0

I don't want it to sound like I'm not working at this. For starters... I have been tracking calories here, been using my Jawbone, and exercising every day that I can, which has been 4-5 times a week for about 40 minutes of high-intensity. Plus, I walk with a baby strapped to my back for a half hour many evenings (21 lbs of ADORABLE). I say yes to chicken and fish, veggies and water. I say no thanks to desserts (except for my own birthday cake), most of the bread, and pretty much anything processed that comes in/from a box and/or requires one to add hot water. So its super frustrating to feel like I'm working hard to lose the 60 lbs I gained with twins...and still have numbers I'm not happy with. Yes, I'm trending in a direction I want to go. But it's slow going and I'm not happy today.0

Lots of reasons. Such as... I'm not back to anything close to my pre-pregnancy self. I keep seeing pictures that remind me I'm not as cute as I am in my head.0

But on the bright side, you have great tastes in music...0

I'm sorry that you feel so discouraged:( This is such a hard process, and (as we all know) - it sucks to have weight issues!!!
You are on the right track though - keep your chin up and keep going in the right direction. You'll get there.0 -
Only speaking for myself, I like to have mixed drinks time to time. But for some reason, if I consume alcohol, I don't lose weight. Also, I have to watch processed foods with alot of sodium. Although I do eat it, I retain alot of water in doing so.
I'm sure you're doing good. You may just have to look at your choices and change it up some. Best of luck!0
