Hey everyone,
I have been struggling the past few weeks so I wanted to start a group with other people who are just trying to make it through the holiday season without gaining, forget about losing! (although it would be nice but not very possible) Post your goals for the rest of the month and we will see how we do come January !

December goal- Not go over my calories more than 2 times a week.

I've been struggling a little lately. Not because of the holidays, just because things have been crazy. I'm not super strict about my calories if I've been going to the gym, but I haven't been more than two days in each of the last two weeks. This week my mother in law was in town and my husband had a doctor's appointment at the VA. I don't remember what happened last week but I know there was a lot going on. I haven't been too terrible about going over my calories but the limited exercise has definitely affected my weight loss. I've only lost 1 pound in the last two weeks. :( It's better than nothing, though!

My goal: getting to the gym more than twice a week.

Excellent Idea! I am not too stubborn with my calories... I am 4lbs away from my weight loss goal and to be honest I don't think I will get there... for my height and size I think it might be slightly unhealthy... might even GAIN some weight by doing some toning exercises. But I definitely don't want to GAIN any weight this season! Also I will probably actually be doing MORE exercising since my boyfriend and I like to go tobogganing, walking, skating, snowboarding etc in the winter!

    My goals:
Remain at 129lbs over the Christmas break
Stay under/at my calories at least 5/7 days each week
Workout 4 days a week (since i dont have work, classes, or volunteering to keep me too busy to do this one!)

thanks for starting this group. I have had a hard time getting exercise in. Not because I am busy just having a hard time making myself get up and do it.

my goals over the holidays, to exercise at least 30mins 5xs a week, and hopefully lose at least 2lbs
  • Hi, I guess I am not able to lose anything the last month or so but I am definitely maintaining well...Eventually I would like to be down to 160 right now at 174
I do Zumba at the Gym 2 times a week and walk several miles a week. Keep a great food diary and always under in my totals. I also do different dvd workouts through the week. (Hip Hop Abs, WII Fit, and just impromptu dancing)
Would like some help and advice to lose some more weight.. I am 5'10" also.
So I am here for all of you too!

I got the flu right after Thanksgiving and have been slow getting back into working out the way I really want to. Today was the first day I really gave it my all. About made my self sick doing it but really trying to get back into things. I always feel so much better when I am working out 6 days a week. My goal is to get back up to an hour a day 6 days a week and then some. My weight loss goal has been a total of 25 pounds by my 25th Birthday on December 31st. I have 10 pounds to go and the time is winding down. I want to get as close to that goal as I can. I want to be able to tell my self I gave it my all!

Maybe try changing things up a little. When you hit a plateau you need to "shock" your body so you can keep losing weight. Sometimes it's as simple as changing your eating habits for a little while, sometimes you need to change your exercise routine. One thing I noticed when I looked at your diary is the\at you are significantly under your calories most days. Since MFP already calculates a calorie deficit there's no reason you need to be under your goal. Especially as much as you have been. On the days you didn't exercise you got under 800 calories. That is not healthy for your body. The general rule is that you need at least 1200 net calories (calories consumed minus calories burned) in order to keep your metabolism up, keep your body functioning properly and to avoid going into starvation mode where your body starts storing fat instead of burning it. I recommend eating ALL of your calories plus eating your exercise calories. This should get things going again and you should see some positive results soon.
  • ok I will put your advice to consideration....just seems funny if I eat more how will I lose.....I will give it a try....thanks. Going for a long walk today the snow has finally siezed and we have sunshine. yay!!! Good luck to all and will check in later.:flowerforyou:

I hope everyone had a good weekend. I had two splurges this weekend which is not good considering it was in 2 days, but I did get a hold of my drinking and ate good 2 out of the 3 meals both days. Those darn sugar cookies I had to make were the death of me! I gained but I am not going to focus on that. Lets hope to see a loss this friday!

I am looking for the same kind of people. LOVE the holidays! The TONS of food constantly....not so much! Basically I have decided my motto for holiday parties, luncheons at work, COOKIE PLATTERS, is "Just say NO". I am not sure if it will work or not but I am going to hang on with every bit of will power I've got. I am also adding in mini-cardio sessions on my breaks at work and laps of really fast walking around the outdoor malls if I am shopping. Hope it helps. Merry Christmas!!!! I will allow myself a cookie or two...as a little victory reward.

Morning everyone! How is everyone doing, I am in a total funk today. I am not sure if it is because of seeing the scale continually going up or what but it is not fun.

I so need help too!!! I'm cold, tired, and need some motivation! I have gotten the mindset that there is no use even trying through the holidays. So, thank you for starting this thread! Maybe we can all motivate each other...and maybe even lose a little! Two years ago I lost 25 pounds....THROUGH THANKSGIVING, CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEARS...and only had a gain one week of one pound...so I know we can do this. :drinker:

My first goal will be to get on a daily routine of exercising. So far I haven't done too well in that department. I keep making excuses...no more!

Good game plan Tincher! You can do it! I am going to log in here weekly sometimes more to say how I have done.

This WI week I lost the 1.5 lbs I gained last week so I am doing good staying at the same weight that I wanted to. Lets hope I can keep the motivation through the 7th! I am hoping to be under 170 by then, that is only losing a pound! We Can totally do this!

It's an old thread, but the theme is current. We are now entering the season of eating, booze, parties, office treats & so on for the next 5 weeks. How do you make it from 11/26 to 1/1/12 with your health plan intact?

I changed my MFP weight loss goal to a half of a pound per week today. I am just going to do the best I can and hope I don't gain. I have a thyroid issue and already lose weight slowly. Happy Holidays
