when is the best time to eat protein if im going jogging, sometimes for more than an hour?
i read that after a workout its good to east mostly carbohydrates
so before a workout then, i like to eat a big meal with a lot of protein, like more than 80% of my day's protein
does that sound fine or is it necessary to eat more protein after the exercise?
after jogging, do you need to eat more protein for muscle repair or can your body use the protein that you ate earlier that day?
thanks!

Anytime is protein time. As for timing, there will be a lot of butting heads about the "anabolic window". It's common to have carbs pre-workout, followed by both protein and carbs post workout. You don't NEED to have anything post workout , but if you aren't starving after an intense session, you're doing it wrong and need to up that intensity. It's more about overall protein consumption, rather than timing of protein consumption.0

I'd probably eat more protein after a run, just because it could cause cramps and discomfort whilst running to load up on protein beforehand. I try not to eat anything at all 2 hours before a long run, but yeah, I eat straight afterwards! :drinker:
There are many schools of thought on this though. In my humble opinion if you just make sure you are getting enough protein throughout the day then you should be fine. I normally time my workouts to end before a meal so I eat directly afterwards (shower permitting) anyway!0 -
Before a workout, I prefer to get carbohydrates and some fats (peanut butter :drinker: ) in to give me energy. After the workout it's time for me to get in my protein, carbohydrates and fat to hit my macros0

That depends on YOU.
If you feel sluggish or tired on your run, you might need some fuel BEFORE a run (carbs)
If you run better on an empty stomach, don't eat for a few hours prior to a run.
And AFTER.... just eat your next meal.
Just make sure you hit your protein/fat/carbs for the day before you lay down at night..... that's all that matters.0 -
