Staying Motivated - friend someone at goal? Or losing?

I had someone say to me recently that I needed to only surround myself with people that have been successful at meeting their goals - that following the journey with someone sort of sets you up for failure.

I see the value in both - and just for food for thought - thought I would start a thread for everyone to weigh in their opinion on the topic?

I think both are equally important..

We share struggles with people going through it

And can look at those with success to know it is possible.

I agree - alhough I get that 'falling off the wagon' when someone else doesn't have the motivation...
It's happened to me! But really - that's on me - I am working hard at finding the motivation in myself - and no matter
who I'm on the journey with - still making it about my journey...

It's important to be able to have both. Not to exclude. When you are having issues with keeping going, anyone can add the little kick you need.

Then again as you continue with your goals, and achieve more and more, you find motivation in giving people help and tips on what has helped you along this journey. It's not an easy road we walk.

I have a policy to add anyone who friends me here, and keep my food diary open, if it helps one person, then i did a good thing that in turns keeps me motivated to keep motivating others. It's a circle, and we all need support no matter where we are in this thing. It's about inclusion to create accountability for yourself and others.

I like to have a bunch of different people at different stages of their stuff. It keeps it in perspective for me and gives me more of a wide angle view of the world. Plus I tend to keep people on my friends list that I like, and that means they might be still losing, just started losing or even passed that point and doing cut/bulk cycles or recomps.

Interesting thread. Does someone who is losing weight not able to help someone doing the same thing achieve there goals together.

As for staying motivated people doing the same thing is more than someone say does this look at where I got. You see the change the together and give each other tips to better each other.

I think her point may have been following this journey with someone not as committed as me has been my downfall - and in effect, it kind of has - but my friend faultering on the journey really should have no impact on my journey - even though perhaps I've let it.

I don't think there's any right or wrong answer here....
