To sit up, or not to sit up...THAT is the Questions

No, really, that's the question. I read somewhere that you don't have to do ab work outs to get great flat abs, just eat the right foods. Thoughts please? Looking for your feedback!

what you need to do is loose fat to find y our six pack! if you dont do cardio and only do abs you wont really ever see them. in fact it can make some people look worse bc there is now fat over muscle..hence a buldge with no definition. so cardio is key, and yes sit ups of course!0

How are you going to build up your muscles if you don't work them out? You don't have to do sit ups to workout your abs but you aren't going to build up your muscle there without doing something to tone them. There are routines that don't involve the floor at all for people with back problems..or people who just hate crunches, etc. But you need to do something for your core.
I've heard about the "Flat Belly Diet" and things like that but I thought it had more to do with bloating? Also something like that might make you lose the fat but you won't have any muscle definition there. The best way to lose any fat of course is just more cardio, since you can't spot train the fat to come off, just the muscles that are underneath of it.0 -
If you work your abs you also save your back.0

you just develop muscle under the fat and then look bigger need to do both but not necessarily situps0

by the way when you do core work , you need to work your front (abs) AND back!!! both parts are your core, as well as the tops of your things (the muscles and tendons that connetc your legs to your body) planks, leg lifts, flutter kicks, cruches etc etc etc are great but dont forget to work your BACK! if you only work your abs you are throughing yourself off balance by all the muscle is in the front and none back. things such as seaturtles, back extension machines etc can help0

You need to build the muscles up if you want them to show, after you drop weight. You also need to lose the fat around the stomach and get a flatter stomach. So what you really need is both.

Yeah, great abs will just show up one day from eating(sarcasm). The "Flat Belly Diet" sounds rediculous. The only path to the hot abs you want runs through the village of hard work. And you will get there quicker if you run!:bigsmile:0

Yes, no carbs, no acid foods, no sugar...your stomach will shrink. Acid and sugar make your stomach bloat, the carbs adds to that. And of course, less fatty foods.0

Getting amazing abs in theory is pretty simple. It's mostly diet, getting your body fat percentage down to 10% for a man and 12-18% for women (if I remember correctly). Exercise is always important, but not as much as the diet. You can add a short core workout to your normal routine on 3 days a week and achieve a good look.
Now actually getting your BF that low is incredibly hard for most people because you have to have an extremely extremely strict diet. You can't out exercise a bad diet when it comes to abs.0 -
OK, so lose the fat/ lose weight, do cardio and sit ups and back exercises and run. Fast. Got it...thanks gang!! :noway:0
