Hi Everyone!
I'm new here to MFP and I'm looking for helpful advice and friends to keep me motivated. I have tried to lose weight several times. I have been successful in the past but each time I gain it right back. I have never lost weight the right way and I need to figure out how. People never understand until they are overweight. I get so frustrated when slim people say "just eat less and exercise more". It is not as simple as that for me. So that is why I'm here to find fitness friends and good advice. Feel free to add me and we can do this together!

I am so proud of you for doing this and making the steps to get to your goal. It is hard to hear the same advice. Just reducing food and exercising more will not work for everyone. However, we can replace some of our unhealthy items with better choices. I did start using portion control, but I did it in time. I mean each week I would take a little less away not a lot and after just a liittle bit of doing this and taking time to see if I wanted more or not I could tell that I was full. That worked for me. I started drinking less pop and more water. You will find what works for you and I hope I will be able to help.
Thanks for adding me as a friend.:drinker:0 -
I totally hear you! I have gained and lost the same weight so many times now. This time is different though, I can feel it. I'm learning from past mistakes and losing differently. I have really consciously gone back and made some concrete changes this go around.
For me, things I am doing differently are:
- counting calories! (rather than cutting out whole food groups/fasting etc). I want my body to get a real feel for the amount of energy it needs and not lose weight in a way that is not practical in the long run for my lifestyle.
- weekly (not daily) weigh ins. I was scale obsessed in the past and I don't think it was helpful at all. You won't lose every day, so the ups were painful!
- this time I AM going to get past my 15 pound hurdle. In the past, when I've lost 15, I feel so good about myself that I immediately throw in the towel and have loads of delicious celebratory foods and drinks. I vow to get past this and not throw in that towel, ever.
Best of luck to you!! Feel free to friend me if you would like.0
