Mindful Eating

I just want to take a minute to share a website I've found really helpful lately. It's called the CAMP system, which stands for Control over Attitudes, Mindful Eating and Portions. I have been using some of the principles of mindful eating along with MFP and the combination works really well for me (well, I'm only five pounds down so far, but it feels great).

I use some of the strategies mentioned on the website when I have a craving that I just can't kick. For instance, today I really wanted one of my boyfriend's costco muffins. I tried to wait out the craving but it just wouldn't go away! So I decided I would indulge... a tiny bit! I was able to have 1/8 of the muffin, eaten slowly and mindfully, and be COMPLETELY satisfied.

It doesn't work for me all the time. If it had been chocolate brownies or ice cream I was after, there is no way I can win against that stuff. But I've learned when it works and when it doesn't, and what kinds of food I just cannot keep in the house.

Good topic! I've used the technique but didn't realize it had a name, lol. Shortly after I started here on MFP my landlady brought me some brownies but I decided I could enjoy them longer if I only ate a half of one on any given day. Those babies lasted a couple of weeks, I enjoyed every bite and STILL lost weight!
