I've been working very hard to meet or stay below my calorie goal (1200) but I find no matter what I do I always exceed my daily goal for sugar. Should I be worried about this or should I just concentrate on my overall calorie goal for the day?

It's not like I'm consuming cookies, cakes, sodas or such delights. I eat alot of fruit and those contain sugars. It seems like everything contains sugar actually. I seem to be able to stay under my daily goal for sodium, protein and carbs but always exceed sugar....what can I do differently to reduce the sugar?

Im right there with you on this. I too, am on 1200 calories for the day, and seem to always go above on my sugars. I hope we both can get this under control.

As with anything, keep in mind your total daily portions. I do find the sugar is pretty low, so if you have a few fruit portions with a glass of milk you are over, but usually only by a bit. If you are eating 1/2 dozen portions of fruit per day and are way over, yes, it may be time to sub in some more veggies.

Are you losing weight reasonably. I wouldn't worry. If you are not then I'd watch the sugar in fruit.

I had included in my eating 2-3 portions of fruit every day and was only losing 1lb a month.(6 months) I also was not eating sweets except the occasional dark chocolate square.

10 weeks ago I cut down on fruits, and I've lost 7 lbs and 4.5 inches off my waist. Before that I had not lost an inch.

So from my experience it can slow down weight loss and affect body fat around the belly

    :-)

I have reviewed my journal and I do see a few things that could be eliminated and I do agree I need to eat more veggies.

I have been losing weight so far but I'm going to watch things over the next couple of weeks to see if there's a difference.

    Thanks for the input.
