Hi guys,
My name is Nick and i'm new to this thing. Well, first off I'm a amatuer NPC. i've done only 2 local shows. Last show i weighted in 160 lbs, 5 percent of body, but now i'm trying to gain weights by using the slow method. i'm eating 6 meals per day plus snacks and protein shakes, on my highest day, i consumed 2496 calories. So the question is when i used MyFitnessPal app, they recommended me eating 3610 calories perday. that gives me 50% carbs, 30% protein, and 20% fat; that is if i want to gain 1lb per week. However, I can also customized how much calories i should eat per day. So is it better to customize your own calories rather than using the calories that MFP recommended? I'm kinda of confused please help!!
Thank you guys in advance!

some tweaking is always required, and since you're so high in lean muscle and low in body fat, almost no online calculators including the one at MFP will apply to you. i don't bother to customize MFP, but i do eat different macros than they recommend - more protein, less fat, less carbs - and usually eat less calories.
if you want to gain a pound a week you'd need to eat about 3500 extra calories, but assuming you don't want to put on too much fat, i'd consider gaining more slowly unless you're bulking and expect to put on fat with your muscle.
some people here swear by the calculators on scooby, and there is one option on this page
http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/
for clean bulking rather than losing weight.0
