so for fun and just to get to know everyone, whether you've reached your goal or not, how old were you when you finally decided enough was enough and get fit/more fit

    30 (that's at least the current answer :) )

Really though I think it had more to do with the birth of my twins this year in Feb.

I'll shorten the long story to this short form.

Took me until age 45 to figure out I shouldn't be wheezing like a beached pilot whale after going up three flights of stairs.
Started walking, eating less, and dropped forty pounds.
Starting lifting and made novice strength gains at best.
Dropped 73 lbs in 18 months, hitting my goal weight in November 2013.
    Survived a heart tumor.
    Gained all of four pounds.
    Restarted lifting and cardio.
    Broke all my PRs.

    I'm 47 now,

The age I am now 52. I lost 140lbs at 40 and gained 39 back. It was that 39 that finally woke me up.

Here I am, 52 is going to be the age I got my life back again.

27, and no children yet (got married at 19 and we tried unsuccessfully for years) due to me being overweight, my poor health, and fertility issues (PCOS). I'm almost 30 now and I am the healthiest I've been my entire adult life and have the doctors okay to try again for a baby :-)

I hit my heaviest weight in 2008 around my 32nd birthday and that's when I decided things had to change.

Now I am 37 and down by 134 lb (my ticker reflects loss since joining MFP)

This is my second time needing to lose weight and get fit. The first time I was 27. Now after having 3 kids I'm trying to do it again at 34.

I was 28 when I decided enough is enough!! Sadly, that was thirty years ago.

    27. It is recent but I passed my 10 pound curse so I believe this is the final time I am starting from scratch.

Went on holiday & rediscovered the stone.

Came back hung around kicking my heels for 3mths (ish).

Xmas climbed back on the donkey. Still hanging on....

Hmmm...my decision was made exactly 2 months and six days after my twelfth 29th birthday. Been maintaining my goal weight (within 5 lbs) for 461 days.

I'm not quite at my goal yet, since I'm terrible at deciding lol. I started to get actively healthier last year. I'm 26 right now.
  • We'll just decided that today! Enough is enough I haven't been overweight for really long about 3 years now and today I just happened to glance at myself in the mirror and I can't recognize me! Oh and I'm 18 :)
  • 23. I hope.

Age 35-- 4 months ago. I don't have any scary stories about health problems or tear-filled moments of getting on a scale or looking at a picture of myself. I just decided. Other recent life events had helped me to realize that I'm capable of doing horrifically painful and hard things and to keep doing it for years on end. I finally just decided to channel that into weight loss.

    A Few years ago - Late 40's

Unfortunately tried to "starve" myself by eating 1200-1400 calories per day and yo-yo'ed for three years.
Finally "got" - Slow and steady - understood BMR and TDEE - bought a digital scale
I have been losing steadily since March 2014
