Confused by fluctuating adjustments...

I allow "negative adjustments" because of my FitBit... so I get why I have to do some activity before I start earning activity calories. I don't understand why my 'credit' for exercise fluctuates throughout the day. I had earned 303 calories earlier today but now I have only 276 in my exercise category. Weird, right? What am I missing?

I don't have a fitbit, so I don't know for sure but having looked at it here is my best guess. I believe it uses some sort of checkpoint system (maybe even as often as every time you sync). It has an amount of movement that it expects you to achieve throughout the day (probably a linear amount). When you go over that amount it gives you extra calories to eat/lose. If you have negative adjustments turned off then if you go under that expected amount nothing happens. If you have it turned on then it will start taking calories away from the amount allowed for the day. If you turn off the negative adjustments then you should not experience the drop for 303 to 276 I believe.
Basically what it thinks you did, was during a certain time frame you moved a lot more than it anticipated and earned some extra calories. Then during the next time frame you moved a bit less than it anticipated so it took some of the extra calories away. I hope that helps, it is hard to explain with words, it would be easier to draw a graph.0
