I got that as a fortune cookie the last day before I decided to start counting again. (Which was Monday...)
I saw it as a satircal statement on diet trends. It made me think of all the things I had done to my body over the years. Back in middle school, when I was a chubby, insecure child, I tried to trick myself into enjoying the feeling of an empty stomach. In high school, I tried drinking vinegar after a binge, thinking it would dissolve the food and make it inert. A few years ago, before I actually saw some success on MFP, I tried to go low-sodium because I thought I should. That's when I discovered my naturally low blood-pressure and started getting light-headed every time I stood up. That sure didn't work for me. I tried to go low carb, but ended up freaking STARVING and BORED of my meal options. Once I had actually lost 60 pounds, the only thing I found that worked was moderation and meticulous planning.
Then I graduated college and the real world happened. I've gained all my weight back (thankfully not more). Juggling two jobs, a stint of homelessness, and rocky personal relationships was enough to push me back into a state of apathy. It's been three years since I was at my lowest weight and I'm ready to start all over again.
I'll still be juggling two jobs and graduate school, but my life is stable enough to focus on myself again.
I want to fill my MFP feed up with people dealing with this thing called life. Let's do it together. :flowerforyou:

I looooove green tea. Good luck to you, are you planning to do some exercise between the two jobs and grad school? Grad school sounds tough.0

I hope to. My university has a fitness center, but it's on the undergrad campus and it's not free. However, one of my best friends goes a college down the street from mine and may be able to get me in as a guest. I know I don't need a gym, but seeing the numbers on the machine in front of me is really motivating.0 -

"people dealing with this thing called life", you mean me, right?
No, seriously, I get you. I had lost a lot of weight but gained back almost everything... :grumble: Because of personal problems and a new (very) stressful job...
I am recommitting this week and I have cleaned my friend list so that I only keep people interacting with me on a regular basis. If you think we could be pals, feel free to add me
You can check my profile beforehand :drinker:
Good luck!0
