It started with a belt.....

This is my first post - hopefully in the right place - although this is only 3 months in - I wanted to share my bit of ongoing success.
I've been on MFP for the last month but my journey started about 3 months ago. I'd lost about 20lb's a couple of years ago with the Dukan but of course.. they all came back on - probably more if I'm honest. I was in UK 22/24 sizing.. my knees were starting to hurt.. and walking up the stairs at work started to get embarrassing when people would ask if I was ok.. so I'd take the lift.. up one floor!
The other excuse I had was that my jeans were pretty much so overstretched that they wouldn't stay up - so walking was uncomfortable.. couldn't bear going jeans shopping - so I didn't walk.. I think I must have been doing 2k steps a day if that with no other exercise.
Anyway - I knew this couldn't go on - I didn't want to be a blob and I in particular didn't want problems with my joints for the rest of my life. I'd bought a fitbit in about Feb but didn't have the courage to get on the scales until May 21st and the scales hit 15st 11.. which is pretty much 220lb... Eep..
So.. enough excuses... I bought a belt so I could walk.. started to look at what was in my food and cut back on portion sizes. My weight has always been more about a lack of exercise than bad food choices, but I realized that a lot of my food portions were way over size - eg eating a pack of 8 tortilla wraps in a day.
I'm now walking about 10k most days and I've lost 18lbs!
I've had a few downs mainly as the walking triggered an issue with a tendon in my foot but for the most part - I've been impressed how ok its been. I've rarely been hungry and I honestly feel now I'm enjoying my food more. I've not cut anything from my diet deliberately but I'm finding I'm going for the healthier choices by default. I've probably eaten more ice creams in the last 3 months than I ever have but a) they're the fruity ones and b) portion control by buying individual ones not the tub.
I have more energy and life seems.. zippier... My knee's stopped hurting as well.
Next challenge is to get down to 14 stone (under 200lb) and new jeans.. and to face the camera so I can get a pic of still blobby me.
I still need the belt.. but for good reasons now

Well done - great result! Small changes every day is what it takes.
(I'm guessing your next challenge is to lose 14lbs rather than 14 stone? You might be in trouble doing the latter )0 -
Hey, do whatever works for you and gets you out. Keep adding goals and you will keep meeting them. Awesome job on losing the first 18 lbs! :drinker:0
