I think your body might be telling you something. Maybe it's happier being one pound higher :)

I don't believe in set points that our bodies are predisposed to sticking too.

However, OP keep in mind maintenance range is about 3-4 lbs give or take. You'll never be one set weight. A goal is nice but you need to realize only you know that number, so fixating on it can lead to obsession. Are you happy with what you've accomplished and how you look? Then, move them calories to maintain.

Maybe OP just want to see that she was able to accomplish the goal. A pound of fat. Where would you like to lose one more pound of fat on your body?

You really think 1 lb loss on the scale is equivalent to 1 lb of fat?

I'm gaining weight, so my goal is a little muscle along with that fat. ;P

I know that most people do not want to lose muscle while losing weight. So yes she would like this pound to be fat more likely.

For my weight goal I want to put on more muscle while losing and lose zero muscle.

Okay, my point is that. She is fixated on losing 1 lb to reach a scale goal. She could do it, sure. It would not be all fat, that's unrealistic. It would be some water too and depending on her macro breakdown, could be a teeny bit of muscle.

Scale weight becomes a trivial number when you're down to goal. It becomes more about how you look and feel.

    That was my point.

Also, putting on muscle in a deficit isn't a realistic goal. Maintain muscle mass is but your body doesn't create muscle out of nothing. On an unrelated note. It's why I'm gaining weight. To gain muscle mass.
  • Yes, I would love to lose one pound of fat.. I run 4 times a week and I am training for a half marathon, maybe that's why I can't seem to lose the last one? I am not fixated on a number, I just would like to get to a certain goal on the scale to say I accomplished it. I am already smaller then I have been in my adult life, had a baby a year ago, can run farther then I ever have before, etc. I am very happy with all I have accomplished but I would just love and I mean love to be 120..

Go to a sauna and weigh in immediately afterwards. Of course it will go back on as soon as you re-hydrate, but if you want to see the number on the scale...

If you just picked up training for that marathon, it's likely you're retaining water.

For weight loss, it's about calorie deficit. So, tighten up your logging. Do you weigh your solids and measure liquids? With less to lose, margin for error diminishes.

You will not lose 1 full lb of fat with 1 lb of scale loss. Just as an fyi

as someone else pointed out, you wont stay at one set number, maintenance should be a range... so if you get to 120 tomorrow, the next day you might be 122...

You're seriously going to obsess about 1 Lb? You do realize that nobody weighs exactly XXX Lbs all of the time right? Your weight isn't static. Natural body weight fluctuations can be as much as 1 - 5 Lbs day to day and sometimes more...ya know, more or less waste in your system, water retention/release, etc.

Stop obsessing about the number on the scale...do you really think that 1 Lb is going to make any difference whatsoever in the way you look and feel?

Training for a marathon is not beneficial for fat loss. It stresses your body and it retaliates by slowing conversion of your thyroid hormones T4 to T3 and reversing the T3 you do have. It essentially slams on the breaks because it is in survival mode. Running miles and miles is the equivilant to your body like someone eating 500 calories a day. It is very stressful. Take a break from your training and I bet the pound would be gone if you have your calories set right.
