Is there any low cal alcoholic drinks- this seems to be my downfall- on the weekends. Either out boating, biking, etcc.. How can I still have drinks with friends but cut the calories?

Shots! Vodka, rum, whiskey! I tend to steer clear of mixed drinks.0

kbelle45,
You didn't mention the kinds of liquor you prefer, but I enjoy Vodka tonics, especially a flavored vodka (citron/acai berry, mandarin, etc). I buy diet tonic water (by the case) and enjoy low cal drinks most weekends. Because alcohols tend to interfere with carb metabolism, if I plan to drink these cocktails, I will plan on limiting my carb intake for the day. Additionally, I will also consume these reduced number of carbs early in the day.
Most weekday nights, I enjoy a 5 oz glass of red wine before dinner.
Hope this helps!0 -

Red Wine.
If you go for spirits add something to them (low cal) to make then long drinks.0 -
I build a deficit in for the week to account for the beer I intend to drink on the weekends. That might not be for you, but it makes me feel great knowing that I still hitting my goals each week when slogging back some beer at the fire-pit on a Friday night.
There's a bunch of low calorie brews out there, you just have to look by the "light beer" section. I think they all taste like piss, however.
You can also do what others have suggested which is to stick to hard liquor or clear liquor. Some ideas include
- Vodka/Gin Martinis (watch out for the calories in tonic water).
- Clear Rum and Diet Cola (Bacardi Limon and Coke Zero is my wife's go to mixed drink)
- Bourbon/Whiskey with a little water and ice (you'll tend to sip this instead of chugging it like a beer)
If you tend to just drink socially all night, and you are doing that with Rum&Cola you are going to get trashed. If you're a beer drinker and going to switch to liquor over beer, be careful.0 -

Fortunately this has been well-vetted;

With liquor, generally the higher the alcohol content, the more calories (but the less volume needed). It also seems clear or light liquors generally have fewer calories than similar ABV dark liquors, often due to increased sugar.
Stick to gin or vodka with diet soda and you'll generally consume near the same amount of an average beer, if not less (really depends on what an average beer is for you). For example, 1.5 oz Smirnoff Vodka and diet Sprite is roughly 110 calories.0 -

Basically, it's the mixer calories that get you, more than the actual alcohol calories.
Use low calorie mixers like seltzer, diet soda, mio/crystal light.
Be wary of pre-made frozen drinks like margaritas, daiquiris, from restaurants, they are huge sugar bombs!!
My favorite drink is a flavored vodka with seltzer water, often with a squeeze of lime or lemon.
For winter, I love hot tea (black tea or cinnamon tea) with whiskey~ yum0 -

I met a guy who got a DUI on a horse, and then the police impounded the beastie.0 -
I ride for fitness...and beer!...about 75 - 80 - 100 miles per week depending on my weekend plans...and of course my fitness goals.0

I like Canada Dry 10 (ginger ale with 10 calories) and vodka. It's my new favorite drink. It's especially good with grapefruit flavored vodka.0

Flavored Vodka with Sobee water (same flavor as the vodka) or mix it up. Make sure to use the zero calorie Sobee.. At least you are getting in your water at the same time~0

Many places have light margaritas. You can have them made with a splash of sour mix and seltzer with a couple of fresh limes squeezed in. Light beer, white wine (I like pinot grigio), flavored vodka in a short glass with seltzer.0

Skip the added soda and beer. (Some of my favorite stouts are 400 calories!)
I drink martinis with 1 oz of gin and 2 of vermouth. Wine is also pretty low.
The less you drink, the fewer calories it takes to feel the buzz. :drinker:0 -
spirits and diet mix. be careful though you can get a DUI in a boat or even just riding a bike. someone even got a DUI on a zamboni (what they use to re-surface the ice for hockey) in a town near mine
I was going to ask if this happened in Ohio or in Florida. But Canada also makes sense.
To the OP: I tend to stick with wine or the occasional beer. I don't care for any of the low/no calorie sodas to mix with spirits (never was a soda drinker).0 -
Best I found and my fav at the moment Vodka soda and lime0

Shot of Black Cherry Vodka in a tall cold glass of 0 cal (diet) Lemon Aid, nom nom nom (makes my mouth water just thinking of it).0

Ditto on spirits with diet mix. My favorite is Coconut Rum mixed with diet Sierra Mist and Hi-C sugar free lemonberry mix (hard to find the mix sometimes so just the soda works). Captain Morgan and diet cola is my usual at the bar.
If I'm in the mood for beer, I'll make shandies. Michelob Light Pomegranate Raspberry mixed with diet Sierra Mist - about 2/3rds beer to 1/3rd soda. Be sure to pour both slowly so you don't end up with a ton of foam.
Make sure you bring a lot of water with you too. For every drink, have at least one bottle of water. That way you're still drinking with everyone else but you'll get less calories. Or if you think you'll get comments, just have the soda/mix in between - they can't tell if there's alcohol in it or not. I've actually done this at BBQs before. Didn't feel like drinking at noon and feeling like a slug the rest of the day so I just brought a 4 cup bottle of that Hi-C lemonberry mixed with water and no one knew the difference.0 -
I mainly drink wine, but on occasion I like to make Michiladas with 1/2 light beer and 1/2 Zing Zang or V8 juice over ice. Top it with a celery stick. It stretches the beer and very refreshing in the summer.0

Coconut rum with pink Crystal Light lemonaide.0

Malibu rum and diet cola: a single ounce of Malibu has about 50 calories [Google says 48 to 51 cals. per ounce], so a double would be roughly 100 cals. It's pretty good with flavored diet sodas too [diet coke with lime, diet cherry 7-up, etc.].0
