Fitbit / Bodyfat Calculators

I realize that anything short of calipers or submersion is not going to get you the best measure of your lean v fat body weight - but how accurate are these calculators in the scales / handheld?

When I first started my diet, the 'estimation' of my 6' frame (without a calc) was 148 lean. When I stepped on the scale, it upped it to 170 lean and as I have been walking / etc it's been about the same =/- a pound. So at least it is consistent. Over the past couple of days it has jumped to 180 lean (I'm not bodybuliding, just walking 3 miles a day). I am weighing myself at the same time, same relative hydration, etc...

At first I felt good because it was consistent (even if it was consistently wrong) - now I'm wondering if there is anything at all to the science behind these things because it just doesn't make any sense at all.

In my opinion they're inaccurate enough to be virtually worthless.

A Fitbit tracker doesn't do anything like estimating body fat. I'm guessing you mean the Aria scale? I'd like it for the wifi ability.
