Sickness and calories

I don't know what hit me, but I had some grilled chicken from IHOP around lunch time and I've been sick as a dog since. I'm stRting to feel a bit better but not up to eating anything more than sugar free jello. I have only eaten 500 calories today, does anyone know what happens to metabolism after you've been sick and ate very little

    Nothing.

Just get better and don't let eating so little become a regular thing.

Good. I was scared it would screw my progress all up.

Don't worry. Your body knows what its doing. Let it do its thing.

As the other poster said, just don't do it regularly.

That said, I'm with you on chicken. Man, that stuff can be LETHAL.

In your 31 years on this planet have you never been sick before or had days when you were unable yo eat? If so you've been very lucky

What happened last time you were sick?

OP, I'm assuming you're worried about "starvation mode". Be assured that it is a myth. There is a reaction that can happen but it can take a long time to do any kind of metabolic damage. One day...even a few days....won't do it.

When you're ill, just try to do your best. Eat what you can stomach, drink lots of fluids and get lots of rest. Don't exercise as it'll put extra stress on your body.

    Hope you feel better soon!

The point is, if you only ate 500 calories due to being sick the last time before counting calories, your metabolism didn't destroy then it won't this time either. And if last time you were able to eat a normal amount of food but this time you can only eat 500 calories then obviously this time around you are probably forcing yourself to eat so little without realizing it.

No, I can never eat when my stomach is upset. I hate puking. I understand your point, but I really don't want to hurt progress at all so I was worried about it this time.

I am 100% better today, except for maybe a small gurgle. I have eaten a breakfast similar to what I have been eating and handled it just fine.
