Hi! I just joined MFP minutes ago. I was using another site for the last 3 weeks and have lost 9 pounds so far. I liked the site but it seemed cold. Not much interaction with the members, discussion boards were silent too.

I want to lose 50 pounds. 6 years ago, I lost 100 but unfortunately life happened and I gained 50 of it back. I live in Michigan and right now I need motivation to get moving. I'd like to have 25 pounds gone by spring. I think that isn't to unreasonable.

  • Thats a reasonable goal. What physical activity are you doing and how well are you tracking your food intake?

Currently I'm using a stationary bike. Since it's been so long my stamina isn't what it used to be, I'm doing about 10-15 minutes at about 14mph. That is quite an improvement from where I started a few weeks ago. I plan in increasing time and distance each week. In a few weeks I'll be adding in free weights and floor exercises. I also have a weight bench but I have a way to go before I can use it, not to mention I hurt my shoulder a few weeks ago.

As far as tracking foods, I was doing it very religiously until last week but I'm back on track now. I'm hoping I can get a nice routine down before I start back to college in January.
  • Sounds pretty good :). I would say good luck but its not a lottery, you will definitely win if you follow a plan and stick to it :). Any questions about MFP, I can help. MFP has helped me a lot with my workouts

  • Hi, I am new to mfp. I have been using this site for 5 days. I really like having to document everything I eat. It is an eye opener to see it on the screen. I want to loose 30 pds in 20 wks. I feel really good so far:happy:
  • @sunlover, that's a good goal. 30 pounds in 5 months, the "experts" say 8 pounds a month is healthy. Set your target YOU will get there :).
