With two kids 2 and younger, one of which who has some health concerns how in the WORLD do you find motivation?! I look in the mirror and am nowhere near ok with what I see, but then I go ahead and eat the sweets anyway because they are easier to get to...Great role model for my kids huh?! I hope this site is the kick I need! My sis turned me on to here and since she has lost TONS I hope she can help spur me on!

Round of applause please, for my sister!! :) She is going through A LOT and could really use some MFP friends to support her and help her stay strong! She is a devoted mother and looks great for just having a baby 5 months ago.

You know I'm here for you! :flowerforyou:  :flowerforyou:
  • Hi, jtgill!

I don't have kids, so I'm not sure how good my advice will be, but I find you have to specifically allocate time for exercise. If you cut down on your calorie intake, even 10 minutes of exercise a day can help. Pick a workout you like, such as dancing or running or jumping rope. Chores like cleaning the house and gardening burn calories, too.

As far as having sweets and other junk in the house, don't buy them! Or buy healthy alternatives, such as popcorn instead of potato chips. Make meatballs with turkey instead of beef. Measuring out your food helps a lot; there's less in a serving of pasta than you might think!

It takes a lot of effort and you have to work hard to stick with your regime, but eventually it will become part of your lifestyle and get easier. Do the best you can, don't beat yourself up if you stumble, and you can always come to the MFP community for help. Add me as a friend, if you like; we can cheer each other on.

    Good luck!

Thanks Sis...And everyone else! I find that I comfort eat...If I am upset I eat. And like Amber said I have a 5 month old I am still breastfeeding so that helps with burning cals. I have already lost A LOT of weight from the pregnancy, but my brother in law is getting married in June and I wanna get a not so momma dress (lol) and look good in it!
  • I was the same way not too long ago... I got me some vitamins and I started out slow just walking 15mins and I am just building on that. I try to work out in the mornings when my son is asleep so i dont feel like i am taking away time from him and then when he is in the bed at night if i feel up to it i do a little something thats Mommy time. Now i have so much energy from out off no where. I feel like new woman. If i can do it i know you can.. Good luck on your Journey:smile:

You have to carve time out for yourself. Your day is probably filled with caring for everyone but yourself - you need to take just 15 or 30 minutes that is for you. It may sound tough, but in the long run it will make all the difference.

Sweets are easy to reach for but so is fruit or nuts or cheese sticks or greek yogurt. Remember, you're feeding your body to fuel your life!

    Best Wishes!!
