For My Fellow Bingers

If you're feeling down about bingeing today, or last night, etc., a good exercise to do would be to sit down in a quiet place, no distractions, with a piece of paper and a pen and *really* think through "what exactly happened" in that moment. You may feel like your hand and mouth moved of their own accord in that moment. They didn't. ;) There was a thought process attached to it. But you might not be fully aware of it right now. It's good to become fully aware, or else a valuable learning opportunity could escape you. Bring it to mind, *now*.

The thought process usually starts with something like, "well, just one won't hurt me", or, "I'm just too tired to deal with fighting it right now", or, "I was out to dinner and was engaged in a conversation and couldn't be bothered with "thinking" about my strategy", or, "everyone else is eating this fun stuff and I hate being left out", for example.

So what was the flashpoint thought, if you will, and where did the trail of thoughts follow from there?

This could seriously enlighten you, AND help you come up with a more acute and effective strategy for next time. Trigger foods and moments will be around until we leave this earth, so you may as well learn how to deal with them now! :)
