Argh birthday weekend - weight gain inevitable?

As the title says, it's my birthday next weekend and I'm supposed to be going out for a slap up Italian meal and then out for drinks on Saturday (I work away so don't see family and friends that much). I can't help thinking this is going to undo all my hard work.

How do you cope with it? Do you work really/restrict a lot more during the week to counter it?

Srsly...nobody got fat because of one day or even a handful of occasions during the year. Maybe take a step back and look at the bigger picture here.

Look at it this way...if I generally ate like ****...but every once in awhile decided to get in 6-8 servings of veg and some lean protein and went for a run, would that make me suddently healthy and fit? Of course it wouldn't...this is all about what you are doing on a consistent and regular basis, not an occasion...not a birthday or a holiday or whatever.

that kind of depends on how your diet is structured. i low carb so pasta is not on my menu, but that doesn't mean i can't find an italian dish that would work within my macros. even on the days i've said "screw this, i want bad stuff!" i've still ended up picking foods that are more in line with my macros than going wild.

if you're worried about portions, separate your entree into halves and take the rest home for another day. or fill up on salad or something equally low calorie so that you're not as tempted to dive head first into the plate of spaghetti carbonara with handmade italian sausage meatballs and fresh mozzarella.

I would love to do this but I live in Britain and for some reason it's a big no no to ask for a doggy bag! It's really annoying!
