Full sweat suit

So I have some ideas on this based on what i've heard from others and read places, but i am looking for some more input from the community. I have recently bought a full cotton sweat suit ( because its gonna get cold soon where i live -.- lol ) and was wondering if getting a major sweat on is a good or bad thing? I've heard it helps to get rid of "water wright" and may even burn more calories the warmer your core is right??? I've been riding my bike with it on which is nice, but i've also done a few indoor aerobic/cardio workouts combined with weight training. I get incredibly hot and get a huge sweat on, can this be bad? Keep in mind i have no heart problems and i drink tons of water (1 gallon at least daily) just looking for some insight. Cheers!

If you're trying to lose weight, you should probably be trying to lose fat. I don't see the benefit of losing water weight. And I don't think a slightly warmer core is anything more than a rounding error, but I don't profess any evidence-based knowledge on the subject.0

Working out in a cotton sweat suit is a terrible idea with not a single fitness benefit to redeem it. It would be a good idea to stop listening to whomever gave you this idea0

Well if anything it will be good for the colder days haha. What about benefits such as flushing impurities out of your body by sweating?0

You can do that without a sweat suit, you know.0 -
I'm not into the spandex or lycra, at least yet. I do have some drifit clothing but they're not exactly warm. I live in Alberta, Canada and it's been unusually cold for august. I guess my post could have been a 2 parter about the sweat and about proper clothing haha.0

Overheating yourself actually produces worse workouts, not better workouts. I'd only bother if you were truly cold.0

Yah. I do know of certain cleanse drinks etc. Was just saying.0

Your body doesn't really have impurities (except your thoughts-- and a sweat suit won't help with those).
There is no benefit to extra sweating. The only effect of exercising a full sweatsuit is negative--the increase in body core temperature and potential dehydration will lower the quality of your workout.
And unfortunately, cotton is probably the worst fabric to wear in cold weather. It retains moisture and loses its insulating capability when wet.0 -

No. I don't think you do.

Perhaps you missed the part of my response where I stated that it had no benefits? And if you're chillaxing around the house on cold days it's probably awesome. But for a hard *kitten* workout cotton isn't the best choice.
Hell, it might be the worst choice. Well, wool maybe. Or cashmere. But it's close.0 -

Maybe silk? Silk might be worse than cashmere0 -

They make drifit gear specifically for cold weather and it's maybe, just maybe, the best thing humans have ever invented. I can't recommend it highly enough.Yah. I do know of certain cleanse drinks etc. Was just saying.
Please try to limit yourself to one bad idea per thread.0 -
Haha oh man. K... thank you guys for the input and the links were very helpful especially the ones pika posted about the cleanses that was new insight. I will try to keep my bad ideas in line but I can't promise anything. So sweat suit is bad. Got it.0

You are the kind of OP that's hard to come by. Two thumbs up and glad you were able to learn some new things  :flowerforyou:0 -

I think I know a lot about health but in fact I probably don't haha. I do try to stay up on it though. It's always an on and off thing for me hopefully which ends this year. As for the drifit maybe I just need to find proper drifit stuff such as jacket and pants. Everyone here is pretty great from experience and everything is a learning experience, right?0

If you go to the same clothing store where you found this workout clothing you will be able to find clothing made to help you be comfortable when it's cold out. You might notice there will likely be very little all cotton clothing there, if any. This is for a reason. Buy whatever you find there. You will be MUCH more comfortable working out this way.
Wet cotton sweatsuit in the cold weather might give you a similar feeling to a long day swimming or beachside when it's gotten cold out and all you have to cover yourself is a wet cotton towel. Not very cozy at all.0 -

If it were neither of those but spandex would be on my list. Shiny neon spandex in weird crevices. That's all I'm saying.0 -

Oh I'm going to quit here. ha.0 -
My husband likes under armor brand Clothing to workout in, he says it's comfortable. But I'm sure your sweatsuit will be fine. There's really no need to over heat yourself though, just worry about being comfortable. As far as cleanses go, please read up on that. That's really not a good idea and a complete waste of money. Unless you have a medical condition, your body cleanses itself :-)0
