Hello!

I'm new, only joined a few days ago.

Because of antidepressants and an under active thyroid, I put on 20kg in 2 years.

I've also got a history of eating disorders, so I need a healthy way to loose weight.

Does anyone else here have thyroid problems, and if you do, how do you manage the weight issues???

  • due to chemo and steroids I put on almost 2 stones. I find the only true way for me to lose weight is to stick to calorie controlled diet and to walk loads. I can lose more wight walking than I can by doing exercises.
  • I would suggest to optimise ure thyroid hormone levels and have regular thyroid function tests. There are certain antidepressants that have less of a weight gaining effect- u should discuss it with your family physician or a psychiatrist. Good luck with ure start to a new and healthier you!!

I guess the main thing is having a calorie deficit but not restricting your eating to affect your metabolic rate...keep active and all the best!!
