Help on egg whites!!

Hello Everyone,

I have started my weight loss program and I been hitting tha gym and doing walking/jogging everyday. I guess I got impressed about the benefits of protein so I started eating 15 egg whites for breakfast and 10 egg whites for dinner. Is eating too many egg whites not good? I have done fair bit of research and I don't find a reason why I shouldn't. Any advise?

  • As long as it's within your caloric and macro goals, I don't see why not. But, you might want to vary your protein sources just for variety and enjoyment. But hey, whatever works and whatever you enjoy :)
  • Hello,

Yes it is within my daily calorie consumption. Am a working professional and I spend at least 12 in office + traveling a day so I really don't get enough time to try other protein rich recipes. Also am very cautious about not to take artificial protein like protein shakes.

No problem, if you like eggs. However, don't let your diet get boring by eating the same protein sources all the time. If you eat meat and fish, leaner cuts are great protein sources. If you don't eat meat, then other options are cheeses, soy, yogurts, and beans. Keep it varied and interesting to make your diet sustainable and realistic (and yummy).
  • I understand. I work in an office environment as well. I eat a lot of pre-made chicken breast, peanut butter, edamame....lots of natural sources for protein if thats what you're looking for. But if you like the egg whites and thats working for you then that works too!
  • I make my own protein shakes with greek yogurt as the base. I am sipping one right now that is; greek yogurt, banana and peanut butter. Very tasty and very filling.
  • Thank you everyone :)

Great idea! Hmm, I bought my first tub of protein powder, just to see what it's all about. Not liking it (didn't REALLY need it, either). Your homemade idea is brilliant: one cup of Greek yogurt = 23g protein @ ~$1.00. Two scoops of my protein powder = 25g of protein @ ~$1. Greek yogurt > chalky powder drink. Your smoothie wins :drinker:

No yolks? I love the yolks - can't imagine eating only egg white, especially so many per day!

I would get tired of even whole eggs twice a day pretty quickly. Maybe on your day off you could grill or bake up a bunch of chicken, or other lean meats, portion them out and then use them during the week for quick meals? As others have said - lots of variety for protein choices out there. And if you're planning on making sustainable changes that you can do for life, you should probalby figure a way to eat more than just egg whites.

    Good luck!
  • Hello,

I been a veggie and never tased meat in my life except eggs so am very hesitant to Take any kind of meat at all. I been having variety with my lunch though!!

Powdered protein is not tasty to me.

Yesterday I made an orange shake; 2 oranges, 1 cup greek yogurt, and some ice. It was great. I also use a little Splenda to sweeten it with.
