Husband's stinky workout shirts... what to do?

Hey there! I need some help in terms of laundry. I need to find some solution to my husbands work out shirts. He sweats extremely bad during workouts. He wears either a Cotton/Polyester shirt or a Polyester/Spandex shirt. I make him put the shirt outside till I can run a load of wash. But now my dilemma is the smell. I can wash the shirt twice and it still smells like his sweat. Is the culprit the fact I make him keep it outside so it essentially dries? Or what on earth can I do for the smell? I bought some Oxyclean to soak the shirts in but not sure if it will help. Has anyone had this problem or do I just have a really smelly husband ???

I'd say it's the material that it's made out of. Things like polyester really like to hold on to smells. I'm not sure if you'll know what I mean, but it's like with hockey equipment - that **** holds onto smells like it was born to do it. You can try adding Borax or Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda -- they both boost the effects of laundry detergent.

Maybe see if he is open to working out in shirts that are purely cotton-based. Cotton is much more breathable for the body and the smells come out far easier.
