What to do on a weekend away

This coming weekend I am going to visit some friends several hours away for a party one of them in having on Saturday night. I have no idea what the plan is as far as our eating (other than the fact that there will be lots of food Saturday night, most of which will probably not be very healthy). I imagine we will be going out to eat for lunch and dinner all three days I'm there and the past has taught me whe doesn't usually eat breakfast. HELP!!! How do I deal with this. Dol I just do the best I can? Do I bring food with? I just don't know. I'm still new at tracking my food and am afraid that this weekend could totally screw me up.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • I don't know if you have access to apps on your phone or ipod but one that really helps me is the Restaurant app. It lets you search foods at restaurants and all of the nutritional facts for the foods there. You can also search for "between __ and _____ amount of calories( or sodium or whatever else you want)" The app is FREE which is also great. If you don't have access to apps most places will have their nutritional facts online. I would say just know what you're getting at wherever you go BEFORE you go. Doing that alone has helped me so much when I go out. Good luck and have fun this weekend!! :)

At restaurants, go for veggies, salads with the dressing on the side or lowfat dressing, chicken or fish grilled or broiled. Stay away from deep fried, battered, crispy foods as well as creamy, gooey, fatty things. Common sense really. As far as the party goes...well, that's tougher if everything put out is "bad". If it were me, I would try to load up on veggies if there is a veggie/fruit tray & indulge in small portions of the" not as healthy" items.

Whatever happens, don't beat yourself up over it. It's a tough time of year to be trying to be eating healthy. Have fun! :flowerforyou:
  • i would definitely bring some healthy snacks along with me. fruit like bananas, apples, oranges, etc. travel well.
