Finally Gaining Weight While Losing Inches

So, for the longest time in my life, this has never happened, I'd think I was eating right, I'd work out, and I'd either never see a change in the scale, or I'd gain weight, and just get fatter. I used to think the only way I could lose weight was through massive cutting, like eating 1,400 calories, while working out and burning off 2,000 calories. I've dropped 80 pounds that way.

I started P90x and I'm using the nutrition of Myfitnesspal, but instead of just eating 1,700 calories, like I was doing no matter what (and I was burning 2,000 calories from my workouts alone each day). I'm now eating back my workout calories and eating 2,200 to 2,600 calories a day.

The stubborn fat areas, my lower back and love handles was stagnant at 38 for over a month, in the first 2 weeks of eating like this (75% protein and fat, 25% Carbs), My love handles are dropped between 37 and 36.5, I've never had such a clear drop like that. My weight however has increased on the scale 5 pounds.

I know it's water retention from the weight lifting, as my muscles repair from the ravaging--haven't been this sore in months now. But, for the first time, I don't worry about the scale, I have created healthy habits and nutrition that outside of keeping track of my food on Myfitnesspal, I don't worry about what I'm eating anymore, even when I go out to eat with friends, or attend parties. And I've maintained my caloric balance.

For the first time, I'm eating pretty much without restriction, having constant energy, hitting workouts harder than I've ever done, and seeing transformations faster than I ever had.
