Moving to Australia with girlfriend

Hi all,

I'm planning on moving to Australia, Perth to be precise, for a year with my girlfriend. I'm travelling from Ireland and I have been told that I need around $3000 each when we get there. Both of us are planning to work there for 6 months in decent jobs then travel and work a little more for last 6 months or so. I have a degree in business and management and I am a Qualified Financial Advisor working in a bank. My girlfriend just finished her science degree and has been working for benefit cosmetics for the past year.

There are a few questions I have:

1 - should we take more than $3000 each? This will have to include accommodation until we find jobs.
2 - Are there many jobs in Australia these days? Half of Ireland has moved there so Are most jobs taken?
3 - Anyone have any Good/Bad experiences in Perth?
4 - Best areas to live in Perth? I know it is hard to say what our rent that we can afford will be but would like something near Central Business District or beach to be honest.

We are both 24 btw
