So other members have been telling me I'm not getting enough fat.
What do you suggest for (I guess i would say) healthy fat? Is there such a thing as low calorie fat?
Thanks again

I checked out your diary. Curious as to why you are eating only 1,000 calories in a day? Normally you shouldn't EVER eat below 1200 calories, and I would recommend eating above that anyway.
That is not the question you are asking though SO in regards to that... Good fats include avocado, nuts, seeds, olive oil, eggs, peanut butter, fish.0 -

Correction.
Members told you that you aren't eating enough because you kept logging 200-900 calorie days. First work on upping your calories. Eating full fat stuff will probably help a lot with that.0 -
It's a bit concerning how you seem to be trying to find ways to get around the fact that you are eating so little, so I'm going to leave this link here for you just in case.

This goal came with the fitness program I joined, I've been using it for awhile now, and if I'm not satisfied or full with that amount for the day then I eat more.....if I meet the goal great. But I don't think I should be shoveling in food when I or my body are not hungry. I started with upping my protien count today which I actually did, and my fat count was good as well. I went alittle over the 1000 calories but I didn't care because I made my other nutrients goal. And actually today I decided that I need to stop loosing and start maintaining, which leads me to the next step of the program. I'm always gonna count calories to stay healthy, the calorie count will just be different, I want to continue eating healthy.
Thanks for the good fats advice, I think that these foods are also high in protien too. Am I right?0 -
Holy ED. Go read that link.
shoveling, lol
Additionally, every gram of fat is 9 calories.
No such thing as low calorie fat, it's all 9 calories per gram of fat.0 -
Thank you for your two cents. I don't know for sure so I will go back and look, but I don't think I have had any 200 calorie days, (unless I was having IBS problems that day, I usually just can't eat when I'm having one of those days). I think you would find more 1000 and over days than 900. Never the less that's done with, nothing I can actually do about it now.
I thank you taking the time to send me the link, but I am well aware of the various eating disorders, and am quite sure I am fine.
I don't quite get the "eating full fat" statement, don't know if that was a reply or a sarcastic statement.0 -
I don't quite get the "eating full fat" statement, don't know if that was a reply or a sarcastic statement.
It means eat full fat foods. As in, eat full fat. Don't avoid fats, as dietary fats are important for brain performance.0 -
So you are saying eat more fat than what the MFP suggest?0
-
I don't think that he is saying that you should eat more than MFP suggests, but that you should eat more than you currently are.
I think he is saying that you should not be afraid of fat or the calories that come with it, that you should not always reach for the nonfat dairy, the fat free bread, the frankenfood-faux fat-zero calorie sprays, and the like. Fat is not dangerous, it is necessary for brain health, hormone production, and healthy hair and skin.
I think he is saying you should eat avocados, and nuts, and whole milk (if you do dairy), and find ways to incorporate real, whole, fats into your lifestyle, 9 calories be dammed - they are a beneficial 9 calories.0 -
I don't know if this makes to much of a difference, but the only "low fat" product I buy is my coffee creamer. I'm not anal about it, but I am trying to eat non processed foods, and sticking with whole foods, I tell you this because I want you to know I don't reach for fat free. I agree about trying to stay away from fats, I thought those were bad. And up to recently did I find out they are needed for all those things you mentioned.
Thank you very much for your response, I'm not sure what you mean when you are mentioning the 9 calories.0 -
Every gram of fat contains 9 calories, regardless if that fat gram comes from butter, an avocado or yogurt.0

Can I ask why your daily goal is 1000? I didn't think mpf allowed for anything under 1200. I know my mom was put on a 1000 calorie a day diet by her doctor.0

Just so you know, and I'm sure it won't matter to you, (cause it already sounds like you have me pegged as an eating disorder, I see a therapist once a week to help me with my accute depression, I discuss anything and everything with her, and I can assure you she has not diagnosed me with any eating disorder.
I went to the link you provided and:
Eating Disorders
Your screening results are not consistent with symptoms of an eating disorder. However, if you are still concerned and think you may need help, please contact a health professional for a complete evaluation.
I'm sure that you must mean well dbmata, I know that eating disorders can be with anyone, and that person may not even realize it. And that tree are particular symptoms of it.
I don't understand how or why you felt to give me this advice, and it actually makes me mad that you would look at my food diary and feel that you can come up with any diagnosis. Advice is good. But should be given in a kind way, and you should not assume you should belittle me just because I have a different view as you do.0 -
As it stated above, one gram of fat has 9 calories. All fat. Whether it comes from from nuts or avocados or lard or butter, one gram of any fat has 9 calories.
I assumed, as did others, that because you were looking for a low calorie fat, you were trying to avoid fat because you thought it increased your calories too much. I was saying that it is a healthy and necessary calorie bump, and was adding my voice to the chorus of people that seemed to be concerned with your low calorie count, and quite concerned with your low fat intake.
As for this:I think you would find more 1000 and over days than 900. Never the less that's done with, nothing I can actually do about it now.
According to your own diary, 12 out of the last 25 days were below 1000 calories.
1000 is too low to begin with, and HALF OF THE TIME you don't even get that. Are you being seen by a doctor? Did a medical professional recommend this level of calorie restriction?
EDIT: I was typing my response as you were posting the above. I didn't read it till now.
Have you told your therapist that every other day you only eat between 500 and 800 calories?
I would still like to know about your MD0
