I just saw this in another post:
"Yes I do eat the same caloric intake daily. With the natural errors but it's the same. Your range is to large and not consistent. "
Does that mean if I fluctuate in my daily intake too much it will hinder my loss? I thought as long as I were to remain AT or BELOW my MFP calorie goal I would be ok?
I have been at a stall for a little over 3 weeks now... could it be because I am not closer to my goal calories everyday?
Is it a bad thing if I am below often?
I was given 1580 calories and I tend to be between 1200-1580 normally (sometimes lower, and MFP yells at me) but I didn't think that this would HURT my progress?
I am really confused and discouraged because of no movement... so now I am wondering if I have been doing it wrong....

as long as it's below TDEE you'll lose weight.
You lose more if you eat at bigger deficit.0 -
Yes a large deficit can slow down metabolism.
No it does not matter that you ate different calorie total everyday.
find your TDEE and eat 20% less calories than TDEE.
Eating the same exact calories is the only way to lose does not even make sense.0 -

That is what I thought... but it doesn't seem to be working right now (or last 3 weeks - but 1 week was TOM)
I weigh everything (grams and ounces) and log everything.
I try to pick the correct entries for my diary - but usually make sure to be UNDER my goal in case there are errors - I just cant see how I can be eating AT TDEE or over to be staying the same or gaining (which I tell myself is just water weight - I refuse to think I ate enough to GAIN - I mean no way I am going over 3500 calories a week....)0 -
OP, you're doing fine. I've gone for several weeks (nearly a month) without seeing a loss eating the way you do (NOT eating the same calories each day), then suddenly I'll lose a months worth of pounds in a week. Weight loss is not linear.
If you continue past a month or two of not seeing a loss, re-evaluate your needed calories and whether or not you're logging correctly.

See and other people here claim that is a myth....
I am not going to bed hungry or anything. I eat what I want, and yes there are days I have been over - but in general I am really good with my goals.
I am just really discouraged with no progress.
PLUS I am going camping in a couple days with friends for a week - and will have no way to log during that time.
I have to hope my portions are good, and not go crazy on the peanut M&M's0 -

3500 calories a week is nothing, I eat 3000 calories/day in winter.
Anyway, you're probably miscalculating something.0 -

Thanks... good to know it isn't just me.
I honestly cant see how logging is an issue - unless there are REALLY wrong entries in my Diary - but I do try to find most things before adding them. Anything that is showing as a serving are my own recipes I entered and measured etc...
I didn't have much to lose on the grand scale (28lbs total) I am what I have heard called skinny/fat - so I assume that is part of the problem - knowing that the last 10-20lbs tend to be harder when you have a weight loss goal I like to say I am starting at that disadvantage....
I was debating if I should redo my goals on MFP now that I lost 7 lbs - but I didn't think I needed to so soon... I guess I will wait it out, and see. i KNOW that if I eat at a deficit I WILL lose - it's just hard when you are and you don't see anything happening...

No. Calories in vs calories out. If one day is off its not going to negate what you've done previously.
Its a bit insane in my opinion to try and hit a certain # each and every day. Why stress so much? I like a range personally. Its just more realistic. Not to mention if you eat the same each and every day that can lead to boredom.
Do what works for you. Take advice from others and consider if/how it fits for you. Not everything will.0 -

In fact it will only increase HGH production which naturally leads to increased metabolism0 -

I wasn't trying to cause any issues - and I was going back to see if anything was done in that thread - I just didn't want to hijack someone's post. I had asked a question once before like the above - and got yelled at for it, so I thought I would do my own is all.0 -

I think you are getting starvation mode and slow down metabolism mixed up.
Also you say no progress. No scale change does not mean there is no change for the better about you. Scale for me is just a confirmation of what I have been doing.0 -
A few thoughts...
You can be doing everything correctly and not see a change in the scale for a few weeks, especially if you just had a big loss.
Are you truly logging everything you eat and drink? I took a look at your diary, and you list very few beverages. This past Saturday you didn't drink anything at all? Now if you drink water only its no big deal. but if you are drinking milk, smoothies, beer, wine, soda, juice...that could add tons of calories to your daily intake that you aren't logging.
If you are logging it all accurately, have no fear. The weight will come off, just keep it up.

Thanks for this,. and yes I actually log everything. I dont drink much liquids at all. I have to force myself to drink water. Saturday I actually had a family cornroast, and bought the big water bottles to make sure I drank something. I don't always log my water though, cause I drink when I think about it. Milk in cerreal if I have it, and with dinner otherwise not so m,uch. oh and Tea - that is on there often!0 -
I don't eat the exact same amount every day. Some days are WAY higher or lower than others.
MFP always yells at you if you go under like 1200. If you go under 1000, it yells at you more. I don't know how high you have to go before it yells at you. Maybe it doesn't yell at you for eating too much?
"Calorie" is only two more letters than "cally" and is less confusing. (I'm just sayin.)0 -

I'm not *****ing about it. It just stumped me and took me a minute to figure out that "cally" was "calories."
Another thread had "brekky" for breakfast. That one took a minute, too. But I got that one faster.
I'm getting lost in the young people slang. But, like I said, not *****ing...hence the "I'm just sayin."0 -
Guss I can't say *****ing, lol.
I'm not angrily whining.0
